I volunteer for a tutoring program for the high risk high schoolers here and it has provided me with some opportunities that I know that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

High risk means that they are very likely to drop out. The home situation is not good in most cases and I even deal with the teenage mothers that need help.
It can be heartbreaking at times, it can really piss one off at others, and when the rewards come they are usually hugh.

Hearing kids say "ooh" and "wow" when I tell them about stuff (the same thing at school when I ran Observatory Open Houses). Just hearing their interest really inspires me.
But everyone once in awhile you get a greedy kid who wants more than the others or wants to "look cool" in front of their friends. They piss me off! LOL!

I so know what you mean and yes, I deal with alot of attitude at times from them. It is almost funny in that the girls are far worse than the boys at that.

It is true and it is getting to where girls are getting to be more physically more violent than the guys.
