Hi everyone
I've been recently trying to get out of my writing comfort zone and want to post something in the NonConsent/Reluctance section.
I've never posted anything there and the story is only kind of about those themes so I'd like to know what the community on that side of the site is like before I dive in
Everyone I've seen so far has been friendly so I hope I'm worrying about nothing

If your story has non consensual sex, you don't have a choice - that's where the site editor will put it.

I'm not sure that I'd call the readers of a particular category a "community" in that they mostly don't know each other or communicate with one another. Maybe the people in the BDSM Talk section or something like that do know each other to some degree but that is a forum, not a category. (Is Author's Hangout a community?)

I haven't looked into the site's rules for Non-consent stories, but they seem to need consent at the end in order to be published. Some authors have said that the rules aren't clear or consistent, but that's what we've got. I've never published in the category except for stories about obviously "staged" or faked role plays.

It's not that consent needs to be given in the end, but that it's not wholly negative for the forced party (either they get some enjoyment out of it or they get revenge later/turn the tables on the forcing party), I believe? I've read enough NC stories on this site to be quite sure that "consent in the end" is not the criterion used.

The FAQ are quite clear. The site doesn't allow:
sexualized death, “vore”, or “snuff” fiction (characters are allowed to kill or die in stories, but the death shouldn’t be meant as sexually titillating).

non-consent fantasies in which the “victim” receives no thrill or enjoyment from the acts, or is seriously and/or permanently physically harmed/abused/maimed/killed.

sexualized maiming, amputation, and female or male circumcision (we happily accept stories of amputees and their devotees, but do not post stories sexualizing the act of amputation or permanent physical harm).

nonconsensual, dubiously consensual, or consensual-nonconsensual stories involving real-life people, groups/organizations, or copyrighted characters. In other words, we do not publish non-con fanfic.

So in this context, the category readers are not the arbiters of content, the site is.

Yes I know the site is the arbiter of story acceptance to be published, but the OP did ask about the "community" in that category - the readers in other words - and I'm not sure if there is some "personality" associated with the category. (Loving Wives obviously has one.

"Non-consent fantasies in which the 'victim' receives no thrill or enjoyment" - yeah, I get what they mean, but it still seems a bit fuzzy to me. It seems a like such enjoyment and thrills are rare in real life, but could be part of fantasies or even staged role plays. That's my take on it, anyway.

I never thought about revenge as a key to story acceptance, but I guess that is okay with the site.

"Non-consent fantasies in which the “victim” receives no thrill or enjoyment from the acts..."

I guess if the victim gains some enjoyment by eventually decapitating their tormentor. Eg "I got more satisfaction out of that than being fucked by you, arsehole."

That reminds me of one of Will Self's novels, I think it's My Idea if Fun, in which the protagonist, in the opening pages, decapitates a homeless guy in the London Underground. What happens next would surely be banned on Lit. Definitely gets your attention but I haven't been inspired to read more of Self's work. Some people have suggested that it's an unreliable narrator and the incident never really happened. (Self never said that as far as I know.)

By the way, I'd guess that your scenario outlined above would also be banned by Lit.
