You guys are nuts. Funny, but nuts.

That you. World War I monuments, if that is what it, are always a bit strange because the war itself was strange as well as being horrible. Erected AD 1937?

The is a real inscription that I just had to include in a story. A GRATEFUL CITY ERECTED THIS SHAFT TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORIES OF ITS BRONX COUNTY SONS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WAR.

One of the characters looking at says, "Did the mason call the sponsors and ask, 'are you sure you guys want this stuff about erecting a shaft?' "

They also notice that the Victory Lady at the top seems to be having a wardrobe malfunction. Bizarre sexual symbolism.

See Bramble's post above - accurate on the year and the inscription. It's a sewer ventilation pipe, not a war memorial.

mS em i AM TERRIBLY DISSPAPONITED YOU DONT SEEN TO HAVE TAKEN MY OFFER SERIOUSLY. i AM SERIOUS ABOUT WANTING TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND HOW TO WRITE BETTER WITH MYEXCELLENT MALE GAZE OVER YOUR STORY. i WOULD HAVE EXPECTED BY KNOW THAT YOU WOULD HAVE READ ALL MY STORIES AND LEFT COMMENTS ABOUT HOW WONDEFUL THEY ARE AND HOW IT WOULD BE AMAZING TO WORK WITH AN AMAZING TALENT LIKE MYSELF.

i HAVE TO THINK THAT YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT IMPROVING YOUR WRITING BY CLOABERATING WITH ME, SO i'M NOT GOING TO SHOW YOU jAC. tHAT IS YOUR LOSS.

As another candidate (albeit though one that spent a less effort) I do feel the need to point out you took us all for a ride. Just another woman soliciting for fanmail... (and not picking any of us!)

:)

I have to say I have received zero dick pics, which is a strange statistical anomaly.

Understandable guess though - I thought "war memorial" the first time I saw it too, and plenty of towns in Australia have similar-looking memorials.

Thank you. It looks much more formal than similar projects today.

Styles have changed a little but artistically-disguised exhaust stacks are still quite a thing! Nice article about some in London: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2021/jun/29/inventive-vents-london-flues-grilles-our-hut
