I just read a rather interesting story about mermaids and when I tried to give feedback, I had to type in two security codes? I've never encountered this before. Is it new? Is it something just some authors do?

They are used by many other websites, as well, to prevent automated troll-bot programs from automatically sending spam e-mail. That radomly selected code number, if you look at it, needs a human being to interpret it, making it very difficult for a "bot" program to automatically load some spam into the message box and send it off to the recipient.

I think Lit has a terrific idea, here, to enhance security, and it only takes another second or two for us to transmit our real e-mail messages.

Well, I suppose--I have never received spam via anybody reading my stories, myself.
