Secret Societies???

Look up the Hellfire Club (also called Order of the Friars of St. Francis of Wycombe).

It was a secret society in the 18th century. Most of its members were members of the nobility, and I think they mostly were a bunch of bored, spoiled rich men, but some of the things that supposedly went on are a little wild, even by today's standards.

Another idea along these lines my husband and I had is a powerful but secretive society with connections everywhere and members in government, commerce and so on. The story starts with a fraternity in an American university which is the breeding ground for future members of the society.
During the so-called hazing of new initiates, two new pledges who have been best friends since they were very young are put through a series of tasks which they pass before moving onto the final test. The tests for both take place on separate nights and they are not allowed to tell each other.
It is the second night and the second pledge is blindfolded and taken into a room. He is told to remove his blindfold and sees he is in a room surrounded by members of the fraternity. His friend is tied to a chair and he is shocked to see his friends mother there as well in tears.
The fraternity leader tells him the details. The final test before admittance into the fraternity and the society which guarantees fture success is that he has to have sex with his friends mother while his friend watches. He has to last at least 30 minutes and make her orgasm before he does. If he refuses he will fail like his friend the previous night and his own mother will become the initation test for the next pledge.
Once a woman has been used in this manner she is marked by the fraternity member's sperm as the sexual property of the fraternity and society and at the beck and call of the members for sexual purposes.

There are other details to work out such as why this happens, how the society keeps the victims silence and so on but it has the makings of a good story!

Think I recall reading about a modern version with the same name, except it was a club for married matrons in England who enjoyed spanking...each other!!!
