One of the issues with congress is the gerrymandering. It makes it more difficult - a bigger hill of numbers to climb. Not insurmountable as the goal of gerrymandering is to spread out the winning side voters the most effectively. Which means that even with a medium small swell of new voters a good number of the gerrymandered districts can be turned.

All this means is that the Supreme's decided that bootstrapping isn't allowed. So you can't use evidence of the official act to prove the official act was illegal.

Say when a President orders Seal Team Six to assassinate a rival. In the following investigation, the DA finds links to the Seal Team and eventually an order from the President to desist from the investigation since it was a Presidential act and thus immune from prosecution.

Is this scenario acceptable? What specific parameters of evidence would a district attorney need to operate within to demonstrate that it was not an official act but a personal vendetta? How would that brave movie DA save democracy from the clutches of a vile, vindictive President? Or would the President sit in the Oval Office looking out over the west lawn and light up a cigar with a puff of satisfaction as the credits rolled?

Interesting development that flew under my radar...
I hadn't realized that the Federal Appeals court declared virtually ALL existing and future non-compete agreements "null and void" as of September 4, 2024. They are officially "unenforceable" from that day forward.

There is a very very narrow claim that remains to be litigated....in Texas, of course, but it affects less than 2000 people nationwide.

The Supreme Court has opted not to hear the appeal of the US Chamber of Commerce on this issue.
