Scotshighlander's story John was copied from another site. It's title is My Son Ricky I posted it there a year ago all he did was change 1 character's name then he posted it word for word. He's a thief!! I worked to hard on that story to just let someone steal it. If literotica won't do something about plagiarists like him there's something wrong with this site!!!

You need to PM Laurel (kittymama?) with relevant dates and such, she is very hot on plagiarism and theft.

I had some sympathy for her until she posted over in the feedback forum, upset because it hasn't been handled RIGHT NOW, and so now "Literotica won't do anything about plagarism."

You mean we're supposed to write our stories from scratch? Oops.....

oh damn and here i was just going to release penthouse diarys remixed

She's rightfully upset and confused. She just needs some sympathy, and someone to explain that Lit's proprietors, Laurel and Manu, care deeply about this issue, are very proactive about it, and absolutely will get a stolen story taken down as quickly as they can. Be patient - it will be taken care of, sooner rather than later.

Damn, every story I've ever written uses words others have already used.

Kidding aside, plagarism, if it has occured, is wrong. Patience Lisa. Give Lit and Laurel time. It wouldn't be expected to get instant service from anywhere yet alone from one like Lit that is free.

I agree....I found her story at asstr.org, and published there months before it appeared here on Lit. She definitely has a legitimate complaint.

Well there goes my idea of finding the highest ranked story........

Ok, please explain what it is with people who think that saying something is going to get theminstant gratification? Things take time. More than 5 minutes. Seriously.

They're angry and upset, someone has swiped something that belongs to them. I know I felt the same way when I found someone had copied something I had written and claimed it for their own.

Well that's understandable, but like cloudy said, they're running around screaming that lit doesn't care about plagarism, just because this hasn't been fixed in the past few minutes. Even being upset I would try to get things handled and THEN scream about it if it didn't get anywhere.

I don't think that's quite what they meant. Look at her profile, she joined the site today. There's a lot of stuff at Lit to try to navigate through, especially for a new user, and some of the information is out of date, and incorrect.

Just a thought:

When we find our stories stolen and published on other sites, how patient are we? How careful and polite are we in our request that it be removed and the culprit flogged? And would we be happy about a site owner that is not available via email (kind of accepted standard means of communication with a site manager) for this kind of affairs?

In all honesty, we don't even know when this was reported and how long she's waited. Or at least I can't find anything about that.

I understand all that, I do. Trust me, I'm horribly paranoid about someone trying to steal what I wrote, but saying the site doesn't care, because they're not sitting at the computer every waking moment taking care of this within 10 seconds of the post, is just, unreasonable.

i don't want to be an ass, but to quote myself:

Yes.

The first time I found out someone had stolen one of my stories I absolutely flipped.

Now I'm more used to it, but it's still an awful feeling, isn't it?

Laurel will take care of it, and quickly, but a newcomer hardly knows that.

Hang in there, Lisa. We've been there, we're supportive, just give the site owners time to make things happen.

I'm sorry if I offended some of you. A friend of mine told me about this yesterday and I came here and reported it then without being a member. I even wrote the so called author and left coments on the story page. This morning I realized an anonymous complaint wouldn't cary much weight so I signed up and reregistered my complaint. I also noticed he had deleted the coments I left so I left more. Again they were deleted so my temper flared and I noticed these forums so I posted here. I didn't mean to sound like I was saying literotica didn't care I just didn't know how long it would take to get some kind of response. By the way my posting in the feedback forum did get a response from "the author" he acknowledged that he copied my story and would ask literotica to remove it. Again I apologize to anyone I offended on here

I would be flattered if someone stole my story. But since I write crappy stories, I don't have to worry about it.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Because of all the hype, I went to his Bio. and read YOUR story. I thought it was really well written. I'd like to see a further investigation into whatever else he has stolen from other hard working and creative authors. Best of luck to you.

Maybe you'll hang around and get to know some of us. We don't bite.

I do.

Lisa: glad you're getting it sorted. :rose:

That's one way to defend yourself against plagiarism!

Another would be if the stories were posted as graphic files. Then you could not copy and paste them as text; you'd have to painstakingly re-type them if you wanted to steal them......Carney

Ok, ok. Clarification: Cloudy bites. I don't think it would be unpleasant though.
But that's just my sort of kink.
