I'm getting started on Ch. 22 now. With a little luck, I should be able to finish it within a couple of days ( probably mid-day Saturday ) as it will be a fairly short story - at least by my usual standards *laugh*
We'll want to try and meet our targets for the remaining chapters, but considering we have a lot to tie together, and the popularity of the chain, I don't think we should rush them either. We have a tough act to follow, writing a conclusion to this story.
154 votes on Genie Valentine so far... in Sci-Fi/Fantasy. I never thought I'd see the day. The score at 4.65 isn't even remotely a contender, but the ratio of votes to views ( only around 4000 ) is stunning, even for a contest. I had around 10k views before Finding Karen hit that vote total in the Winter contest.

Halfway done with Ch. 22, so I should make the schedule on this one easily.
Logged in this morning to find Ch. 15 had 18 votes swept. Eighteen? These sweeps are getting more than a little ridiculous. This is the second time I've lost more votes on an older non-contest story than I ended up with while contest sweeps are going on. Dropped from 4.94 to 4.88, so I pretty much got solidly raped of fives as well.
Meanwhile, the series of one bombs dropped on five chapters in the middle of Danica over the course of ten minutes sit there unmolested, and I've had a grand total of one vote vanish from my contest entries ( a five, of course )
I wonder why I bother voting half the time any more. Judging from what I see on my own stuff, there's about a 25-50% chance my vote is going to vanish into the void the next time the disfunctional Lit Hoover meanders through the database, sucking things up with little logic.

*laugh* I'd be up a crik trying to do it for pay publishing. All those lovely images are cut-n-paste melding/recoloring/transparency tricks from an art gallery webpage. They allow you to use any image, and modify it in any fashion you wish, so long as you link back to their gallery -- for non-commercial projects.
That Romanesque bath image was actually the initial inspiration for Ch. 22. After one look at it, I wanted to write something to go with it. Rutila's name also means "Red-Gold Hair"

They may be cut and paste, but the ideas behind putting them together is the key.

If you haven't read The Beast Within yet, go give it a read. It picked up two votes of 1 rather "mysteriously" tonight, about 15 minutes apart, dropping me out of my H from 4.92

I PMed both of you Ch 23...I haven't even done a proof of it because my brain was all kinds of twisted after writing the second half (after the puppies) all last night...Had to just get away from it for the moment...I think I got everything, but I'm particularly afraid I forgot something for the present day...Thanks...
