Well, a request from SensualGreg to see more of my trip shots... *s* Hopefully these are as enjoyable as the other ones I post! Although maybe in a different sort of way, I might get jealous if a flower pic excites you more than one of me! *snicker*

Forgive the larger sizes, I wasn't thinking I'd ever post these here, lol!

Let's see...more of the coast here, tidepools by the Cape Perpetua Lighthouse...

At the same tidepools, one of the big spouts shooting off as the tide was coming in :)

A bridge, shrouded by a dappling of mist and sun...again near the Perpetua Lighthouse...Hwy 101 runs over this bridge in the midst of it's sinuous curving

The lighthouse...

Unfortunately you can't ever get to a good place for a closer-up picture of the lighthouse, unless you want to pay $5 just to park and shoot a pic and then run! Which I was not in the mood to do by this point, having spent the last 3 hours soaked to the bone and a bit chilly by now... ;)

Shrooms!

I often get distracted in my photography with small details, things that catch my eye (and my lens!). Things like a beautiful single flower, a twist of ivy in a tree, or an adorable little village-like cluster of SHROOMS! (Can't you hear the tiny fairy wings now?)

Washington Park....

A beautiful Fall view during a peacefull stroll through the misty morning...

More Washington Park...

Similar to the previous, but different enough... :)

Whoops...

Forgot one of the coast that I liked...Dunes Nat'l Park...in B&W

Vibrant and beautiful

Your creative and artful eye radiates with the pictures of your trip.....

Back to the sadness....

More shots of the 'Garden of Solace'- The VietNam Veteran's Memorial in Washington Park....

This is the entrance to the spiralling walkway (that statement will make more sense in a couple more posts....)

Twirling up....

Standing at the top of the spiral walkway, right before you reach the Oregon's MIA wall...looking back at the garden. Seemed most appropriate in B&W, again a dappling of mist and sun burning through the background...

The Lost Boys...

The wall in front of which I spent many moments crouched, tracing names with numbed fingertips...are any of them still alive? In a way, I hope they are not, so I could hope they died before feeling their country had forsaken and forgotten them...

Final one...

This is standing from the bridge on the left of the "Spiral walk" picture...looking back down the entrance mall walk into the memorial.

It was a good few hours spent there...I am greatly looking forward to my first visit to DC next month...to face The Wall. I can't really say why this era touches me so deeply; I know noone lost in the war, I know noone missing, I wasn't even alive for much of it. I just know it strikes a chord deep within me...hopefully one I've maybe shared a bit with you. Peace be with you all....

Each is unique

I love each photo.....the memorial photos are somber, beautiful. The memorial looks manmade, but comfortable in its natural setting.... (know what I mean?)

you don't need a journal

you let everyone into your mind with your art. it easy to see who you are by knowing what touches you. thankyou for sharing.

Stunning!

Your photo of the tidepools at Cape Perpetua lighthouse was stunning... It captures a misty, moist, ancient ambient power within the landscape. I have two photos on my wall that reflect that same quality... but of a mountain stream in the Smokies. The photo just draws my eye in... so contemplative.

For me, the detail of mushrooms is sensual, almost fragrant... I want to squat beside you... silent... drinking in every detail.

And I'm most touched by your written comments accompanying your memorial photos. As I see the photos, my empathy for you... the depth of emotion they evoke... moves my spirit to stand behind you... wrap you in strong arms... and hold you in chaste embrace... seeing them through your eyes, feeling my spirit touched with yours.

artful capturing of the world

And yes I can hear the lovely fairys whispers being carried in the wind as they glide wistfully by the cluster of shrooms..... They are undoubtably beging you to join them in their dance and light up the moonlight

Because Mae you are far more beautiful then the scenery pictures you have shot : )

Once again the beauty of your heart shines............I am torn between the beauty of your body and the beauty in your soul.

Those are very cool pictures thanks for sharing them. Even though it took a little while for the pictures to load it was worth seeing the cool pictures you took.

Mae,

These are not distractions, they are opportunities. Horizon shots are great but gems like this are what make a roll of shots special. Every time I go out with the idea of taking some pics, I always bump into a little scene or activity that I had not expected. Fonding things that would live well in a picture is a natural gift of a good photographer.

Wow - those scenery pics truly were wonderful!! I wish I could've been at your side on your trip Mae13 :)

It's a testament to both the beauty of the land itself and to the excellent photography work. Makes me wanna move half way across the world to the states. ;)

I know just how you feel..........metaphorically and photographically speaking!

The other way....... I'll just have to fantasize;)

Picture taken early November in the Algarve:

There's a certain eroticism in my picture, as there is in much of your work.

I would love to see more of you and your photography;)
