Saving the World One Bra at a Time

He just shrugs. "What can I say? I -tried- to be nice and a gentleman. But the reflection was right there. It was close my eyes, look in the reflection or stare at you. Decided I'd see what was planning to jump me at some point while not being too overt about it. Obviously I like what I see. So much so in fact that you noticed.
Mmmm. People have said that before...And couldnt handle me. But...We'll see."

He follows them out, shooting at the people carrying weapons. He finds it odd at how undisciplined, and rather unprofessional about it. Gun fights in hospitals. Even secured facilities. Particularly secured facilities.

"It -was- a good plan. This is the quickest way out. Havent you ever heard of hiding in plain sight? The plan stays the same. If theyre smart they'll be in all the exits anyways. When security shows up we may be able to get out of here in the confusion. But if you see any security, hide the weapons, look scared and follow my lead. You are not dying before you even get out of the building."

Mark moves even as he speaks, acting like a human shield, taking out any threats he sees quickly, efficiently, not wasting any ammo as they have an obviously limited supply and an unknown number of possible attackers.

Regrets can kill you. Gabrielle found a way to short circuit her's and get back to the here and now. Right now there was a gun fight to be won and an escape to make. Time enough to beat herself up later.

Her instincts surprised her. She wanted to protect Sophia. Gabi didn't expect that but there it was. Sort that out later too, she told herself.

Running with Tom and Sophia behind her, all of them shooting, bodies falling everywhere they fled down the stair well. She glanced down and sure enough there were three operatives down there. Gabrielle pulled her head back as bullets pinged all around her. A bit concrete hit her just above her right eye and she felt warm liquid dripping down her face.

She noted that both Sophia and Mark seemed to be good with their guns. That made her feel much better. At least she had three on her side. She'd take those odds.

Running down the stairs, she occasionally moved to the center to shoot back. She didn't let the fuckers keep her forward movement from continuing. She was determined to get Sophia free no matter what.

Lord Menta had brought a whole new meaning to the words "Back In Black".The league of shadows' ultimate goal was to destroy the corruption in the world from the darkness, the pupteers of the modern era,the puppets no longer being replica dolls of people, the people being flesh and blood folks like you and me.Lord Menta had gotten off the plane just an half an hour ago and his crew had rushed through the busy streets of New York yet there was nothing the cops of the city could do to them, having diplomatic immunity was a great thing to have when you were such a important figure, like Lord Menta was.Standing in the back of the rushing "SWAT" van, members of the league of shadows were quickly gearing up,setting weapons in holsters and making sure they had enough ammo for the entire trip.Strapping his katana in place, the black wrapped hilt of the blade was seen over left should as he locked two fifty caliber pistols into place on his two chest holsters.

Drawing a combat knife, just as large and deadly as jim booies,he slid it into place at foreleg and took an automatic M5PK,silenced and military issue like those of the SAS,Lord Menta kept his ninja mask, how ironic would it be for Sophia to see "Connor" pointing a gun at her and taking her into custody.Sincronizing his watch he whispered to his fellow members, each of them equiped to the teeth with ninja masks over their faces, the van screached the an abrupt halt infront of the institution that the girls were being held in.It sounded like the party was already getting started, well that just ment that he would have more people to kill, there would be no escape now. Each of the members jumped out of the back and vanished into the night, one moving to cut the cameras and the other people to sneak in.

Menta moved to the front door with two others and picked the lock with easy and worked pasted the security that was quickly disabled, not that the alarms were not already roaring in the distance.Looking at his watch, the voice of one of the members checked in and told him that the two renegade agents were on one of the upper levels and trying to get away with some sort of strange man.Hell,it was his job to rescue damsels in distress,wanna-bes always trying to steal his style: No matter, the man would be dead before the winter ended,if not the night. The two men he was travelling with broke off into seperate halls, each member with his own job and they would all converge on the girls when their seperate mission was done.

His first victim was a young black man, standing about 6'3 and looking like he ate bullets for breakfust, ripped out of his freaking mind like one of the line men in football,he was no challenge for Menta.Drawing his katana, the blade flashed in the moonlight as pale rays spilt through the windows and into the hall.Sneaking across the hall,Lord Menta moved with the silence of the dead and the grace of a stalking cat,he finally sprung.Blade leading,he ran and bounced off the wall, blade held out parallel with his body, the blade cutting the man's head clean off with only a little spurt of blood splashing across the wall.Landing in a tumble,he rolled to his feet and pushed the door to the stairs open as he vanished into the darkness.

Stairs were no problem, taking two flights a time by bouncing off the rails and moving with utmost urgency,he was on the correct floor in no time and with only a slight sweat to show for it.He was finally warmed up and that ment it was killing time.Pulling his MPK-5 out,he braced the butt of the gun to his shoulder as he burst through the door that leads to the stairs and entered the main hall, behind the security force line that was locked in another fire fight with another group.Pulling the trigger,he shot every single man in the back with a graceful swoop.Moving between the dead bodies as they fell, using them as cover,he fired accurate, semi auto shots at the men down the hall, killing who ever was left as members of the league of shadows cut down some of the men.Slipping the gun back over his back,he drew two pistols and moved down the side hall.

"Sophia and Gabi, show yourselves and make this easy for yourselves" Menta roared as he cut into a side hall, firing multiple shots at some of the more security forces that were rushing out of the elevator, the bullets each hitting their marks and bearing them down to the ground as he easly stepped over them and continued on,the hunt was on and Menta never loses.

Cassandra felt the impending orgasm from her husband and knew that soon they would be coming together. She continued to keep him in the warmth of her mouth and she continued to feel the heat of his against her sex. As she sucked hard, allowing her teeth to graze across the sides of his stiff cock, she felt the bite on the swollen lips of her sex that sent her over the edge.

Cass erupted over her husband's face and soon the juices from his own orgasm was filling her mouth. She swallowed rapidly the heat of his seed splashing against the back of her throat, and sliding down her throat. A shiver of passion and lust rolled through her as it spread throughout her body. Her own orgasm was felt with emotion that rocked her very soul.

Her blood flood thick and hot as did the juices that covered her husbands face. She licked his cock clean with the same movements he lavished against her pussy. Cassandra shuddered once more then rolled onto her stomach. She lay there for several seconds regaining her breath. When she had finally come down from the natural high, she spun back to her husband and curled up next to him.

Hours passed and sleep captured them both. The lovers were interrupted during a second round of heated bliss when the cabin door was suddenly splittered into a thousand slivers and a group of armed men and women invaded the room. Alex went for the gun, but immediately dropped his weapon when he saw the red laser sight on his wife's heart.

The group heard gunfire as they stopped on the landing of the stairway. The firing was heard throughout the complex and the three looked at each other confused. Obviously they had just avoided a trap or at least someone thought they had the right information. Sophia looked to the others and shrugged. "I'm really thinking this is not the kind of hospital where you tell them you don't have insurance."

They could tell from the gunshots that were echoing and popping above them that the man hadn't gotten all of his information correct. Which showed his skills or at least those of his people weren't as great as the rapid firing seemed to try and display. It sounded like he was firing from the third or fourth flour and they had been housed on the second.

Sophia thought for a moment then looked at Gabi and Mark, "Well we have something going for us. Whoever he is didn't either read his files right or got the wrong information."

She looked at Mark, "Thanks for the detailed escape earlier, you've gone up one notch in my book." She glanced out a window that looked out into the parking lot reserved for Doctors and Administration. "We go out that door into the main halls we'll be taken and Mark will be shot. I'm NOT wanting that," she stated firmly. She glanced back him, "Still don't trust you, but I don't want you killed either."

"We can't go outside you're way Mark so I suggest we take the window." Sophia took her weapon and worked with the other two to break the glass free. They knocked the shards off as best they could then were busy lifting Gabi up and out of the window, then Sophia went followed behind Mark.

Once outside the plan had to change again. There was no garage now, it was there but access to it wasn't possible, every door would be covered. No red Corolla was there, but other lovely vehicles were. Nice fancy doctor cars gleamed all shiny and expensive. The three hugged the side of the building and were soon skirting their way across the lot, each one hung on the door of a car, trying to unlike one. Finally Gabi shouted she had it and Sophia and Mark rushed over to her. "Nice wheels," Sophia said as she climbed in the passenger seat next to her sister. Mark was in the back watching the complex disappear.

"Well... whoever that was, thought they were going to take us in one swoop. Guess we need to regroup and Mark, my dear... Thanks for the exit, it was lovely."

Sophia leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes. "You know... if he had entered on the second floor he would have had us, remind me when we find out who this person is, I need to send his incompetent informant a bunch of flowers." She closed her eyes and allowed Gabi to move across the city as fast as she could.

*Sorry for being late....computers been down.*

Rage boiled his blood as he followed the laser light up to where blazed from under the barrel of the gun held by the one in front. If Alex’s eyes could kill, there would be nothing but a red smear upon the ground where that man stood. Dozens of ways to make this person suffer raced through his mind. Yet, he could do nothing, less he risk losing Cass once more, this time for good. He would not be responsible for that again!

The invaders had yet to speak, and Alex didn’t care to hear. It would be the usual ‘do this or that or die’. His mind raced. They were outnumbered, out gunned. Things seemed hopeless. He grinned, just the way he liked it.

“Well?” he growled. “Are ya gonna just stare at two people about to fuck, or are ya gonna tell us what the fuck your doing here?” Well, he thought, may as well find out what this is about while I think about how to kill them. His eyes glanced about the cabin, and it was then that he caught sight of something that made him grin like a cat within. Along the upper edge of the wall, dipping in and out of the logs, a thin red wire was just barely visible. Good woman, he thought, you did keep this place the same after all this time. He knew that wire connected to several packs of explosives buried within the front wall, just in case of uninvited guests like these. He only hoped the trigger was still strapped under the bed.

He turned to Cass, the dot of red still threatening over her chest. “Cass,” he said, “I do so hope you kept this place exactly as it was.” He hoped she noticed where his eyes had been drifting.

Mark chuckles, adrenaline pumping through his veins. He relaxes slightly when he sees no pursuit, and far as he knows no set destination right now. No one saw what car they left in, or where they are going. He made sure of that. There was no one to follow a trail, for a trail did not exist til the missing car was reported. He reloads his weapon, wishing he had more ammo.

"Well, that was fun. Haven't had so much fun in five years. Was starting to wonder if I'd gotten rusty. Guess there's my aqnswer. And that's all right. Nothing like helping a coupla ladies in distress. Well, when one one of them promises to jump you later anyways."

He tries to relax but still glances out the window occasionally, making sure they are not tailed.

"We should head very briefly to the place I told you about. I am the only one who knows about it. It was set up for me by me. We should be safe there long enough to pick up cash and some firepower. Then it's off to wherever you end up going."

Gabi naturally considered that Mark's "secret hideout" was a trap. She figured that the two of them could handle Mark if it were. They should give him a chance in more ways than once. If he showed his colors were less than he said, they could dispose of him.

She smiled sweetly at Mark then concentrated on the road. Driving was the thing that she was perhaps most skilled at. She didn't need all of her skill though because they were clearly not followed and the road conditions were good.

Following Mark's directions while she flirted and drove, Gabrielle was soon as Mark's so called safe house. She got out of the car. "Wake up Sophie were there." She said.

"You first Mark." She gestured with the gun for effect. "If this is a trap, I'm never gonna get to fuck you. Believe me it will be entirely your loss in more ways than one Sug." Gabi winked and licked her lips.

"If you say so lady. I've got the key anyways."

He heads into the house, goes to the fridge and grabs a glass of orange juice then sits down, sipping it.

"See? No men popping in to attack us. No one even knows I have keys to this place. But if you want I'll show you the rest."

He gulps the last of his juice and heads off through his small place, expecting them to follow. He picks up cash, weapons and various other things in a duffle bag as he gets ready to leave, showing them at the same time he is clean.

(And he -is- on the up n up. No one knows the location. *nods*)

Sophia had awoken with Gabi's voice as well as the shutting off the engine. At first she wasn't sure what was going on then she remembered. The man she had known as Conner Smith was anything but another man that was out to take them in and use them for their own use. Well, now that their blood had been drained, or at least whatever amount the Vampire doctors had gotten from them before Mark's rescue would hopefully keep them safe for the time being.

Her eyes took in the surroundings, nestled in the woods which she was sure were covered in surveillance equipment and a few trick wires, she saw the house that would become a brief stopping point on their way to somewhere else. She really only wanted to go back to college, and become that boring college student she portrayed, but somehow she knew that wasn't in the cards and she'd be around fighting the bad guys for a while. At least she hoped she'd be around; the fighting she could do without.

As they walked into the house, she felt somewhat better at Mark's cavalier attitude and she started to feel a little more like herself again. She wasn't cut out for being the forceful woman she had to be, not in a calm setting. When she was fighting for her life as well as the life of her sister, then it was different. While Mark drank deep the bottle of orange juice, she wondered what would be next for them. As much as she liked hanging out in a small house in the woods she also knew there was someone out there waiting for them to make a mistake.

She glanced at the clock, noticed the time approaching mid afternoon. "Let's see what you have in your cabinets and Mark... if I'm stuck in another cabin with no TV, Stereo, all the other lovely things in this modern time, I may have to shoot you." She rolled her eyes and began scrounging around in the man's fridge as well as cabinets.

"Mark, I would like to hear everything you know about us, and who you're working for," she nodded to Gabi, "I'm sure she'd like to know that also. I'll trust you only so far until I know and feel it is true, then ... we'll see where we all stand and go from there. But right now... I'd like you to spill the beans. I know you said back at the hospital, you were placed there and told to wait for something strange to happen... well... today was strange enough for me, so who told you to be there?"

As she waited for his explanation Sophia began working on the preparing their lunch, which knowing their luck would be supper too.

(in the spy world, no one is on the up and up... and everyone has information at their disposal so long as they have enough money and influence)

By the time they had gotten off the plane, Reese felt it. Before he could just shrug it off as nothing more than a tickle in his throat, some piece of food had caught back there and try as he might, he couldn't get it out. It was like that kernel of popcorn that lodged itself to the roof of your mouth, and no matter what you do, it will not leave.

As they got out into the hot and dry Arizona air, however, Reese knew it was a cold. He sneezed once, hard, blowing snot into an already disheveled sleeve. God, he had thought he escaped the cold weather in Russia. All through the week long storm he hadn't had so much as a cough, now the moment he gets on a plane he feels sick. Weird.

Several other people getting off the plane had it too. Perhaps it was just something going around. A bug or something. Reese and Tom had been out of the loop for a good week now. When they finally did emerge from the wildnerness a folder was waiting for them giving them a few insights about what was going on, but it was either vague or useless to their mission.

They needed to find out why Arizona though. Why were the girls here, what were they planning on doing?

"I'll go find us a hotel, and start asking around, you can see if you have any contacts with information."

Reese coughed an understanding, as he made his way outside.

The bright heat rose up just as he stepped out, he shielded his eyes from the torcherous sun, hailing a taxi.

She was soon satisfied for the moment about Mark and this safe house. She watched her sister and Mark bristle at each other and go about their business. Gabi had other business to take care of.

Gabrielle went to the bathroom to pee and wash up. She felt gritty. She felt dirty. She felt like she had blood on her hands and she did.

Looking in the mirror at her eyes she wondered, not for the first time how she became who she was. She felt like crying. Really, she needed too but she was also drained. Gabi felt she was an empty shell with no energy or tears to waste.

She washed her face and wondered again who she knew that she had killed back at the cabin. Drying it, she sighed and wished for a different life. She wanted to be all sunshine and roses.

When she walked back outside she noted Sophia's hard attitude with Mark continuing. Maybe she was rubbing off of Soph. Maybe She was the bad apple that spoiled all the others that got close to her.

She smiled wearily at her sister as she made some food.

"So let's satisfy our curiosities quickly, eat and get out of here. Mark tell us what you will. As I understand it our window of opportunity here is closing and we need to actually get to where we were going in the first place, if we want to save as many lives as possible." She said her voice was quiet but clear. She sounded tired even to herself.

Cassandra looked over to her husband, smiled and said, “Of course I did.” She knew everything was still in place, she had only done minor changes to the place, made sure wires were still in use. Cassandra knew Alex would react just as soon as he saw her move.

She dropped to the floor, and the man holding the gun pointing at her chest, fired. The bullet splintered the wall behind her just as she was pulling the thin cord from under the bed. There was no time to screw around, or play with the people in the room. When she dropped to the floor and grabbed the string she knew Alex was doing his thing too.

Cassandra watched the door of the building blow up and splinters of wood went flying. Soon she was watching the two men in the doorway become piles of burning flesh and the other two that were in front of it staggered forward.

Her heart was beating rapidly as she fought to regain her equilibrium. The blast rung in her ears and she felt a few shards of splinters embed themselves into her skin. She moved quickly reaching for the fallen man’s gun, but was too late and she watched the barrel of the gun come up and become a menacing black hole for her eyes to connect with. She saw the man’s finger begin to squeeze the trigger and she waited for the bullet to find its path.

((ooc: yes... in the game of spy’s there are no true secrets, just like we can’t post ourselves invincible, we can’t expect us to not be unreachable or untouchable.))

"You can and will cook? This is worth waiting for. Sometimes I think I could burn water.." Moving to the chair he sits again, thinking as he waits for Gabi to reenter the room before speaking."Well...Here is what I know, and what my guesses are so far."

"I am part of an almost unknown agency in the U.S. government's employ. Were called Black Wolves. One of the pet projects of someone high up. Ive never been told who. But I do know who the director is. Her name is Cass. She is the one who recruited me years ago. She wasn't at the top then but she has worked her way up there. We do odd jobs all over the world, from assassination to stealing information to whatever else the people up top have us do. Even within the Wolves there are factions. As I'm sure you can guess. A guy calling himself Jonathan gives me orders. Through a variety of means."

" For the last five years I was told to watch that hospital. Find out and keep tabs on what was happening there. Look for anything out of the ordinary. A few things have happened. As well as things I've heard from friends. There's a rumor of some virus or another that has either been released or will be released. And you two play a major part in it. It wasnt known exactly what. But something to do with a cure."

"We aren't sure exactly what side controls the hospital. Only that it's by a major player. Thusly I was told if you show up, free you and protect you as best I can. And help you get wherever you go. As you could be the keys to saving billions. After that I've had no communication with the man. This was some time ago. Therefore here I am, offering my services. Obviously my cover is up there, and people do know some of my haunts. Though not this one. People will search and may see us around the city the longer that we wait."

He looks thoughtful, and obviously stating what he believes to be the truth. He is relaxed, chair leaning against the wall with hands behind his head, his weapon a good four feet away on the counter, rather closer to Sophia. There is one under the table he is at but he has no reason to go for it as they should have no reason to attack him. And on top of that he is to protect them.

"Sorry if that doesn't help much. But it's all I know. Care to share at all?"

He spoke on a pay phone, in the middle of a busy street. The perfect kind of place for someone to make an anonymous call. Of course, Tom didn't make on anonymous call, he made two.

Two very seperate and distinct phone calls that helped him understand just what was going on.

The first were to his contactgs, explaining he was still alive, and trying his best to stay on Gabrielle's tail. It was odd, because in his mind he thought the word Sophia, she was his Sophia, but every time he spoke it, his lips formed Gabrielle. He didn't mind, in fact, he kind of blanked out each time it happened.

He informed them where he was, and that he needed information about where the girls would be if they came to Arizona.

"There is a research facility, not too far away. Supposed to be developing various biological elements. No one quite knows what they do, they have some high clearances to be running what they are."

Tom nodded, they would have to check that out. That would have been the girls first stop.

He hung up the phone, but at the moment he did something funny happened. His head cocked to the side, and then went blank once more. The world became hazy, like when he said Gabrielle, but meant his Sophia, his own little Sophia to rule the world with. She was so beautiful.

Picking up the phone, he dialed Sophia's number.

"We're in Arizona, checking out a Research Facility," He told Sophia everything.

"Of course," The other end had a Russian accent, but Tom just phased it out, like everything else. The world became a rainbow of grays, ranging from light to dark, nothing clear and focused, only groggy and deadly, like a dull knife that still rips through your flesh, leaving ragged torn pieces behind.

"Reese and I are going to check it out. And then we'll find out where the girls are. I will tell you once I have more information."

"Thank you, my sweet."

Tom hung up the phone, paused for a moment, and then the light or sparkle or life or whatever you'd like to call it returned to him. A glimmer, maybe, or a shine that everyone had, only glowing dim at old age. It returned to him, and he walked back to the rental car with a boost in his step.

When he got back to tha apartment, Reese was throwing up in the bathroom. Tom told him everything...

Well, everything he could remember. Parts of it were fuzzy, parts of it were gray and jagged.

Sophia raised a brow, “I said I'd cook... not that I can cook.” She had the water boiling and the ground beef cooking, by the time Gabi was out of the bathroom, and was soon snapping pasta noodles to fit into the pot of hot liquid.

Before long they were sitting down to a pile of spaghetti with the out of the jar sauce and eating. Sophia tried to remember her last meal, and felt her stomach roll as she remembered eating breakfast before shooting down the soldiers in the Huey's, her co-workers, people she knew.

She listened to Mark as he started explaining what he was doing with them. When he mentioned the name Black Wolves, she looked up quickly. Her mind raked through images and words, she had heard a name like that, Wolves, or Wolf, it wasn't until she remembered the sound of Conner Smith's voice that she made the connection.

“Smith said he was from some group known as Wolves or Wolf. I don't remember the name, I guess that was the one he was impersonating. Which means you were supposed to be the one to get us out of that damn van and not him.” With that thought she developed a more relaxed attitude with Mark, and listened even more closer.

His mention of the name Cass, brought her up short, but she tapped the information down, right now she would deal with that tidbit later, when it was just her and Gabi; besides there are lots of people named Cassandra in the world, granted... probably only one who is her mother and supposed to be dead and has now been brought up a few more times then usual.

“We've heard about a virus, and our blood is the cure, or at least something in it is. But... wouldn't Smith have it now. The doctor's surely pumped out enough to do something with it... didn't they?” She looked at Gabi then said nothing as Mark, allowed her to interrupt and continue.

Sophia finished her food, and drank deep the bottle of milk she had grabbed from the fridge during Mark's talk. “It helps... for now.”

The name Cass didn't go unnoticed to Gabrielle but you couldn't have told it from her face or body. Gabi listened to both Mark and Sophia while filling her stomach as quickly as she could.

She was itching to get going. She was itching for a lot of things. She wanted freedom from this life. She wanted love. She wanted hot sex that hurt right. She wanted quiet moments with her sister and so much more. There were precious few hopes of getting most of the things she really wanted though. Her life wasn't about that, never had been, not even as a kid. She waited till her sister finished her piece then smiled at her.

"I say you can cook Soph! Thanks for that, it was great." She put her hand over her sister's and gave a little squeeze. She wiped her mouth before he continued.

"Now I say there are too damn many players in this game, too many to sort out and that's why we need to do this ourselves. So as soon as you two are ready we need to get moving, we need to find another mode of transportation because there is going to be a report on that car as stolen soon if it's not already out. So any ideas about the best way to get there and the best way to find out what stage the cult is in of their plan?" Gabrielle asked looking at Mark and Sophia.

In her mind were silly images that would never be danced. She and Soph living side by side in perfect little ginger box houses. Her's would be painted dark colors and look haunted but Soph's would be bright, cherry and normal. She saw Reese kiss Sophia goodbye and get into his sedan. The kids from both houses were playing together across their lawns. She saw Victor pull her back in the house pinching her and chuckling then dropping trow and bending over.

She saw dead bodies all over the house of the men she had killed. Innocent men and guilty men alike side by side like cordwood for the fireplace. Gabi shook her head to clear it and coughed.

"So, any ideas?" She asked again. Looking at Mark this time, she deliberately began to undress him in her mind. That was better, she thought, much better.

By the time they made it to the outer checkpoint, Reese could taste blood every time he coughed. He hadn't drove the car, didn't think he was able. All the way here he had these spells of either wanting to pass out, throw up, or just lay down and die.

Tom didn't say a word though, simply threw a cautious sideways glance his way every now and then. God, Reese hated to see Tom look at him like that. Wasn't Tom the one he was supposed to rescue? Tom was the crazy one, on the verge of either death, suicide or some manic combination of the two.

Reese coughed once more as they came up to the fenced gate. Two guards gave not so friendly looks at Tom and his passenger. Reese tried to give a smile, but a drop of blood slipped from him.

Tom only gave them a moment to recognize what was going on.

"Sorry guys, you've been relieved," The gun sound loud in the car, noise bouncing off the crowded walls. Three bursts, fire spewing from the nozzle, and both of the guards fell flat, dead before they hit the ground.

Reese put the gun away as he stepped out of the car. He didn't get more than two steps before falling to the ground and throwing up over the dead body.

Nothing came out but blood.

Tom pushed the button on the gate, the fence rumbling and opening before them.

"Come on," Reese wiped away what he could, stumbling to his feet.

There had to be answers inside... there just had to be.

Even as the shockwave of the blast assaulted his ears, he managed to roll from the bed. He tried for the gun under the bed, but the explosion had caused it to collapse, sealing the gun away underneath. Alex’s mind raced, he knew the blast wouldn’t take care of all of them, and it wouldn’t take long for the ones still alive to recover and start shooting. Then, the image of glimmering steel flashed in his mind, making his lips curl in a fiendish grin. He lept at the dresser, yanking the topmost drawer open, and, from within, he pulled a large leather sheath.

Turning, his eyes beheld something that caused his breath to catch. Cass, kneeling upon the floor, staring down the muzzle of a gun on the verge of firing. Fear rushed through him, fear at the past being repeated. “Not again!” he roared as his feet hammered the floor, crossing the distance to where death was creeping close with the pulling back of that gun’s hammer. Time seemed to slow for Alex, as he pulled from the sheath a long curved blade, it’s inner edge a razor, as it came down hard, to come between the swinging hammer and pin. The force of the blow pushing the solders gun hand down towards the floor, as the mans nose was crushed by the swinging fist of Alex’s free hand. The solders cry of pain was stopped short, as the blade pulled free from the gun, turned, and let it’s fine hooked edge glide with almost no resistance through the meat and flesh of his throat. So clean was the cut, so sharp the knife, that blood did not flow until the man hit the floor. Yet, when he did, red froth bubbled from the now gaping hole in his neck, and from his sputtering mouth.

As one drown in his own blood, Alex turned just as the other soldier rose to his feet. Before the man could raise his eyes to see what was coming, cold steel entered his gut. The blade was turned, pulling from the man’s mouth a scream of agony, before the curved inner edge was pulled up, slicing with a surgeon’s precision through stomach, lung, and heart. The last image the man took with him to the hereafter, was the look of sheer delight in his murder’s face, even as a cough sent dozens of spots of crimson on Alex’s face.

Cass’ body relaxed as the gun was no longer staring at her, and the two men lay dead on the ground. She moved from her fallen position on the floor and quickly worked on opening up the jacket of the closest dead man. She found what she was looking for and grabbed Alex’s hand, pulling him with her to the back of the cabin, “Remember love... I said I had changed nothing.” They had just a few seconds left to exit the cabin before the second round of explosions would occur.

They both ducked for cover behind the concrete blockade that they had put up years ago, hidden now by strategically placed vines and shrubs. The blast blew high and the smoke cloud cleared the tree tops, mixing with the clouds above. She looked to Alex and saw his blood splattered face and knew it wasn’t his or hers, but the ones that he had killed. Her arms wrapped around him and she held him close. She didn’t mind being strong, she loved it, but right now all she wanted was held.

She pulled away, and looked down at both of themselves. “I believe we need to make a few phone calls. I have a feeling the girls are in trouble.” She explained to Alex that she had her team arrange for the girls to be taken to the hospital, but they were not to be placed together, nor their blood drained. She needed them separated, and had plans for both of them. The blood was useful, it was what they needed, but it wasn’t the key to everything, just a small fraction. They still needed one key element for everything to work right.

She pushed her hair back, and sat down on the grass. The heat of the burning cabin did nothing to warm Cassandra’s naked skin. “I had a man inside the hospital, I told him that if the girls were taken their and left alone all would be fine, if however they were mistreated or something weird was done to them, he had to pull them out. Those men, in the cabin... they were dressed up like Black Wolves, a group of mercenaries I use sometimes... I know you’ve heard of them, I can see it in your eyes. I’m still waiting on your history you know... why you are who you are and why you did what you did ... but right now, we need to see if the girls are safe.”

Cassandra stood up and gazed over the burning ruble. “The men inside were a group of men from a cult leader that is developing a virus, and the girls are one half of that key,” she looked over to Alex. “You and I am the other half. They knew that and have tried to bring us in, so... if my inside man Mark, didn’t rescue the girls, then they have at least half of what they wanted.”

“I’ve got a change of clothes in the shed, as do you... we best get dressed, and check in with our groups, because something tells me the girls got a visit just like we did.”

"The food is very good."

Mark eats with gusto, hard and fast til he can eat no more. Like he prefers life. He thinks about someone impersonating the Wolves...And the implications. He does not speak though, instead watching the two women's faces, trying to judge their reactions.

"I've no ideas for where to go or what to do. I am merely a body guard to you right now. The information I just gave is all that I had. Told you. Once we got out and here, it's up to you. For the car situation I'd say did the stolen one. As there is one just outside here in the garage we can use. But if we are going we need to go fast. I'm ready when you two are."

At that, he simply waits, doing to Gabi as she does to him. But unlike her, he has seen her nude, thusly having pictures to go with his thoughts.

Sophia looked at her sister and at Mark, rolled her eyes, chuckled softly and winked at Gabi, “Down girl.” She smiled wide and took a deep breath.

“Okay... I think as of right now the cops would be crawling all over the hospital we were in, so going back and finding out what the hell was going on there would be wrong and asinine to say the least.”

She looked at Gabi again this time studying her. “We know there is a virus and we are part of the answer. So far if this thing is out in the open we don’t know about it yet. . . so we can’t even be sure it is being transmitted.”

Biting her lip she thought for a moment then continued thinking out loud. “If it is out there, we need to go wherever the biggest laboratory is and see if they have their hands on an antidote, vaccine or whatever the heck they would need to save themselves. I mean the head honcho isn’t going to let himself get ill now is he... he’ll have a vaccine somewhere... but... he obviously doesn’t, why else come after us if he did. So he created something he can’t cure, and if he gets it... he’s toast.”

She gathered dishes as she walked around the room, and stacked them in the dishwasher, the whole time the wheels in her head were turning and spinning. “He’s going to need this cure fast, he may be real close and not have the final ingredients... us,” she grinned at Gabi. “So let’s get our ass moving, we don’t have time for a car, we need a jet. If this thing is supposed to take out enough people that we are supposed to save the world then we maybe have what... three days... five if we’re lucky.”

Pushing the dishwasher closed with her hip, she looked to her sister and the self-proclaimed body guard. “So... a jet to Arizona??”

Gabi smiled at Sophia.

"Down indeed?" She asked archly. "Have you become a nun now?" She laughed at her own joke.

"So anyone know of someone they can trust to fly us in a jet? I'll tell you I'm pretty sure I burned all my credit with Arthur and Greg. That's a damned shame too. I had such plans for them." She sighed.

Winking at her sister, Gabrielle's lips twisted into a sassy smirk.

"You know how I love plane rides! They are always so exciting don't you agree?"

She shoved some weapons into a pillow case. Grabbed some bottles of water and non perishable food, then turned to Mark.

"So where is this car? And who can we get to fly us to the moon or at least our final destination?" She asked seeming to suddenly be much more awake and in a better mood.

Mark grabs the gun from under the table, puts it in his duffle bag and stands. He laughs at Sophia and arches a brow.

"Down? You'd think we are a couple of dogs in heat. Albiet...I did tell her to jump me...Well, lets drop that for now. From what youve said we do not have time. Not nearly enough. The car is outside. A jet...Um...Not totally sure. Don't you two have contacts? If every person seems to know who and what you are I'm sure you could get something together. If not I do have a friend or two. But it'll almost certainly cost us"

He is trying to think as well. Trying to figure what exactly he will end up needing, what he may have forgotten, and who he knows that he can trust. On top of that, where to go. For now it would seem the small airstrip Tony has. It's a ways out but usually fairly unused except by the odd craft here and there. He heads towards the garage as they speak, eyes alert, ever searching.

His mind drifts, even as part of him stays with the conversation and his surroundings. He thinks about how he got to this road in life. Why he is here and what he is doing. Mark had always been fairly bright. And he had an interest in intrigue. So he joined the CIA. Became an assassin and spy. It was found he had great talent at acting, at undercover work. So on various missions that was his primary job. Infiltrate organizations. Eventually he met Cass. She asked him to work with her, and eventually under her in the Wolves. He agreed, having heard rumors of them. Things that spoke well for them with very little against.

One day he got the order. Work at the hospital. Watch it. Watch what is going on. If odd things happen, report them. So he has done over the last years til a week ago. Then the orders changed. Watch for two women that were put in the special ward. Free and protect them to the death. So here he is, doing exactly that. And from what it sounds like...He doing his job could help save the world.

Sophia listened to her sister as well as Mark. They needed a jet, they needed to get out of the area, and they needed to do so quickly. Their own contacts could all ready be compromised, at least Sophia wondered if hers were. Mark left the room, headed outside leaving Gabi and Sophia to talk on their own.

“Well... Mom’s name sneaks up on us again,” she cocked a brow toward her sister and wondered what to make of her silence.

“I think we need to go with his contacts right now... if he’s involved with mom it very well could be our ticket into finding her, as well as finding out what the hell is going on with us.” She gathered up more supplies and looked over the house. “Would have been nice to stop and rest for a spell...” she grinned and watched as Mark made his way to the garage.

“Well Sis... any opinions on Wolves in Sheep’s clothing? I’m not so sure I want to trust a guy that is swinging with a woman that could screw her kids lives up like she has ours.”

Sophia hadn’t a clue what was going on next, all she did know was she needed to get back to normal stuff... killing bad guys and studying Quantum Physics. “His jet our yours?” she winked at her sister, anxious to get going and finish this once and for all.
