I just got back from a week long business trip there and I have to admit it is quite a nice little city. Plenty to see and do and it has a nice feel to it.

My calves are still recovering from the hills.

Your trip didn't happen to be sponsored by Quinn Martin, by perchance?

LOL, I was hanging out with my 25 year old cousin and mentioned that show and she looked at me with this completely blank stare that made me say "fuck I'm old." :D

Then she probably doesn't remember when Dirty Harry Callahan was a cop there, either. :(

San Francisco and Seattle are the two big cities I haven't seen that I need to cross off my life list. (Haven't been to Miami either, but don't really care to go.)

It's a great city; the one most New Yorkers feel they'd have the best shot of adjusting to if they ever had to move away from the City.

How about the ass cheeks, did they survive unmolested?:D

The Castro was one of the few neighborhoods I didn't see. I live in NYC so I didn't think it was worth the time considering my schedule.

Probably not. I didn't have the heart to ask.

I spent an afternoon lost in Oakland. Mom was navigating as we searched fruitlessly for I-880. I finally pulled over and made her give me the map. I had us on the interstate inside of 2 minutes.

Good thing she wasn't driving or we'd still be there.

Actually, it's a great neighborhood and worth a visit next time. Tree-lined streets and (of course) funky little shops and restaurants.

I highly recommend it. Some stuff wasn't worth seeing like Fisherman's Wharf (it's a bigger version of the south street sea port in NYC) but the sea lions lounging right off of it made it worth the trip. Twin Peaks at night may have been my favorite thing. The view on a clear night is simply amazing.

Giardelli square was cool. Haight Ashbury was a lot like the east village. The presidio was pretty cool. I didn't get to alcatraz (you have to book tickets well in advance) or walk the golden gate bridge which I will definitely do next time.

Chinatown was the same as NYC but with hills. The mission district was cool if you like burritos and murals.

That was exactly what I said to just about everyone who asked.

I would totally see it next time, I just had really one day and a couple of nights when I wasn't with clients to see stuff.

Oh and I would definitely recommend riding in a trolley car. When you're going up hill you are incredibly relieved you don't have to walk it and when you are going down a huge hill you are 99% sure the brakes will work but there is that 1% of you thinking "holy fuck if those brakes give out I'm a dead man."

San Fran isnt that big, its like 7 miles wide someone told me. Great city, can't wait to go back!

I went there for dinner one night. It was a lot like the one in NYC which I go to every other week for dinner.

did you see the crooked street? and the overrated trolley?

Agreed. Neat place. Was there the week after new year's. Much more of a small town feel than I expected, once I got a few blocks away from Market st.

Btw, forgot to thank vette for the reasturant tip. Can't remember the name right now, but it was mighty fine

Macaroni Grill ??

Yes I went down Lombard Street. Walking up Russian Hill is what killed my calves.

And the trolley definitely wasn't overrated. Totally worth it.
