"Rushdie suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck," the police statement said.
The author was transported by helicopter to a local hospital. His condition is not currently known.
The interviewer, Henry Reese, also suffered a minor head injury. Mr Reese is the co-founder of a non-profit that provides sanctuary to writers exiled under threat of persecution.

It was bound to happen one day. Sort of surprised it took so long. This, with the case where an Iranian leader had to try to buy an assassin on the Internet inside the United States, rather than Iran having agents in place for this wherever Bolton or Pompeo have traveled abroad, indicates the Iranians maybe aren't as operationally capable abroad as has been touted.
