(Actually my wife and I plan to use rather obscure English words when we go shopping to let each other know if we are interested in buying the items without letting the Chinese shop assistant know. Last week we went shopping for a sofa. We showed our delight and the saleswoman knew it. That left bargaining difficult. We got a discount of about 10 per cent, but we could have gotten a bigger one had we used our 'safe words'. We decided on Oranges (sweet/good/yes buy it) and Lemons (sour, bad, no, look elsewhere).
