S**ts going down at Patreon

I've never quite made it that far, but I know a number of the 'regulars' here have Patreon sites. Well, something's going down over there, so to speak.

Apparently they just laid off their entire cybersecurity team. That's not a good sign. See this LinkedIn posting as a example/confirmation:

So for better or worse, I and the rest of the Patreon Security Team are no longer with the company. As a result I'm looking for a new Security or Privacy Engineering role and would appreciate any connections, advice, or job opportunities from folks in my network.

If you do have an account there, you might want to make sure it's not a password you use elsewhere, that you're protected on whatever financial info they have on you. And... be looking out for whatever the hell is going on there.

I know there's some people here who make a few bucks, but Patreon biting the dust would be devastating to a lot of you tubers who make a living from their content.

I doubt they're folding, but maybe going to be bought out and go in a new direction as in not censoring free speech which they've gotten into trouble for multiple times.

If they do fall, someone else will replace them, I just feel bad for people who could lose a lot of money until they figure out another way
