Love to run. Used to be better, but age hurts. Got 3 miles in this morning though before the thermometer broke 90. Cheers y’all.

That’s an interesting idea - a Strava Literotica group? - I used to use strava but chose to jump ship to the Nike app because they have guided runs. I was definitely just trying to constantly outdo myself previously which wasn’t healthy as it turns out (physically or mentally!)Also a recreational runner, getting back into it after a couple of years off. Starting to see real progress now, which makes me feel great.
I don't tend to run far, 5km will be my limit, anything longer just gets boring
I've had loads of support from strava, would be good to get a community like that here too.
Wishing everyone all the best.
Trail running is the best. Preferred XC over track in college. Good times out in the forest.Did a couple miles this morning… nice trail run
Follow the 10% rule. Your total miles should never go up more than 10% from the week before. Lots of data on over reaching and injuryI'm not an absolute beginner... I ran 5km and 10km competitively for years previously. Just took a couple of years off for a number of reasons. Now i'm older I'm easing back into gently and slowly so as to not overdo it and ensure I can keep running for years to come.
But thank you for the advice and support, it's much appreciated.
I’ve never really done a trail run - do you recommend different sneakers than those I’d typically use on pavement (for trying it out?)Did a couple miles this morning… nice trail run
Just curious @lilblonde69er - what part of my post earned theOh this is a good thread to follow / bump / frequent more!
I’m a recreational runner who’s in the midst of prepping to do a half marathon! (Just started that training program so many, many, many weeks to go!)
I will admit I’m nervous about losing progress once the school year starts back up… long runs just take so… long haha. What’s worse, I’m a morning person who’d love to run in the morning but the amount of time it takes me to cool down / stop sweating post-run just isn’t conducive with getting to work super early :/

Times good too. Def watch that. But if you wanna stay away from injury, watch that 10% and cross train!!! That got rid of my planters and runners kneeThank you - I'm definitely taking it slowly - running to time, rather than distance though.
Depends on if I am training for a marathon or 1/2 marathon. If I am I am following a training plan. If not then usually 5-8 miles 5 days a week. Haven't run this month due to MCL issueDo you all train on a program or just run a set distance? I’m struggling with balancing too much mileage (30-35 per week) without feeling like I lose progress if I step it down.
Kimberly, you sound like a good runner. Do you have anything for 2023? any 1/2 or full marathon?Depends on if I am training for a marathon or 1/2 marathon. If I am I am following a training plan. If not then usually 5-8 miles 5 days a week. Haven't run this month due to MCL issue
MCLs are the worst! In my career I’ve ran 16,000 miles. Ran in high school then in college on scholarship for Cross Country & Indoor/Outdoor Track. Throughout my career I’ve had some injuries but the MCL strain is my most annoying. I took some time off but started training again a few months ago. I’ve added swimming laps to my regime lately especially during an injury like an MCL. Hope you’re doing better Kim.Depends on if I am training for a marathon or 1/2 marathon. Thanks Paddy! We are very similar...I ran track and CC in high school and college. This does suck. Been treating it with ice and taking ibuprofen like candy. I'm about ready to give in and see the doc for a cortisone shotMCLs are the worst! In my career I’ve ran 16,000 miles. I was training for a couple of 1/2's but a knee injury shut that down.Kimberly, you sound like a good runner. Do you have anything for 2023? any 1/2 or full marathon?
Not to try it… take it easy is you like it then consider the investmentI’ve never really done a trail run - do you recommend different sneakers than those I’d typically use on pavement (for trying it out?)
