Runners unite

Saucony has been my go-to. Though they keep swapping their lineups and the most recent endorphin shifts I bought have been causing some issues with my strides.

I hear good things about Brooks but I'm a little nervous to try a new shoe. Last time I did that I ended up with plantar fasciitis in both feet right before a marathon. 🤦‍♂️
Do you wear only Brooks or multiple brands?
I have two pairs of running shoes, road and trail, both are Brooks and I love them both. Really comfortable and lots of support.

There's no need to try a new shoe if you're happy with what you have though, I only moved to Brooks originally as I had Asics before and they didn't work for me.

The Saucony Guide is my latest infatuation-- a stability shoe with lots of support and lots of cushion. Could be the best shoe I've ever run in.

It’s only 8am here and already 27C (81F).

Not my preferred running weather.

Even at 5am it was quite warm.
Have you tried running in the pool or sea when it is too warm?
If you do that when it’s too warm and when you get better running westher you will do a great time over 5/10k. It’s a bit like running with heavy shoes and then taking then changing to lightweight

I started a couch to 5k in January
Completed my first 5k parkrun on March 16th
I absolutely love it and have done 27 more since then as well as doing a couple of 10k, great for the heart, lungs and head.
Hopefully kick on in 2025 if I can avoid injury and build up to a possible half marathon

Took advantage of the low 50s temps in the middle of December for an easy 3 miles today. Been trying to get back into a routine after pulling my calf on Halloween.

Haven’t been around here for a bit but good to see the thread still going.

I’ve strung a few decent weeks together of increasing mileage in the marathon block. Cautiously optimistic about what next year might bring in running success! 🫣

Since Agusut I have had a twisted knee, a strained lower back and for the last 3 weeks, winter flu...meaning my regular running pattern has been thoroughly disrupted. I am hoping 2025 can see me back on track! I do miss it.

As a runner, I sympathize to this being the worst feeling. Once you head down the road to recovery, something else hits you that delays it even further....and the end of the road of recovery extends
And extends
And extends

And all you want to do is run.

Here's hoping you can distract yourself long enough to make it through.

I still dream of the days I raced, really and it's been 15 years since I stopped. My problem? I didn't train right, and I knew it. I'm one of those guys who lived by the I can take any pain you give me. Summer I'd get up and run 3:30 or 4:00 AM, get out of work hit the gym and lift, get home jump on my bike and do 30 miles...everyday except race days. I did this for 15-20 years, I got more stupid as I aged before I got into this bad habit I just ran like a normal person. So after 8 knee operations those days are done so I sit watching my wife leave at 5:00 to get her run in. Rain sleet snow but she's out there

Best of luck with getting back on track. I know how much it bothers me when I’m not able to get out there and exercise.
