This would be me. I am forever jumping around and probably acting like the 16 year old I apparently look like-and recently just got a pitbull puppy, which has really kept me outside and running around a lot of the time.
It's done wonders for my body and energy level-but, ya see the other day I was going out and I threw on a cutsie little sundress. I looked in the mirror-pleased with how my body looked, until I looked at my legs. OMG. Scrapes, scratches, bruises... It's summertime I don't want to wear stockings, and honestly I really doubt they would hide much, anyway.
I tell ya-damned if ya do, damned it ya don't.

So, my point-I do have one (occasionally). What do you guys think of girls like this; like me? That aren't really afraid to go get dirty and a little beat up? Is it a good thing? Or would you rather have a scratch free girl that wants you to kill the spiders for her?

Well in my opinion a girl who is not afraid to have fun and be out-going is a huge turn-on. I really hate girls who play the role of helpless and above physical activity. So be yourself and have fun, it's sexy, and to hell with a few scraps and bruises.

I would also be interested in hearing what guys have to say on this subject, if Melody doesn't mind.

Damn Jersey girls! I happen to think you are a f***ing riot and a little cutie to boot. I personally prefer a natural woman. One who can play with a dog and not mind the scratches and the saliva they produce. Spider killing is a plus!

I have a close friend IRL who grew up in Jersey. We recently spent a long weekend in their suburban Chicago home and I love her to death but she has a serious phobia surrounding spiders, of which I was previously unaware. I was standing in their kitchen and I heard a scream from upstairs. I flew upwards with my superman cape flying behind me. I ran into her room and found her near hysteria. I was told that the "biggest spider ever," was trying to attack her. To make matters worse, the damn little bugger dove into her closet! No doubt, formulating its next plan of attack! She was terrified. The whole house became involved, my wife, her husband and all four of our kids(her two daughters and my two daughters whose total combined age is 17). We all searched, to no avail. My point (I occasionally have one as well) is that you are great, scatches, spider killer and all. Also, can you help out a former Jersey girl with her spider issues? :)

I know that guys are into tomboys and stuff and I used to berate myself all the time growing up for not being one.

To cite a few examples:

- In elem. school, my parents thought it would help me if they put me in a coed soccer league. Well, I was one of only two little girls on the team and these boys compared to us were HUGE. Anyway, I didn't get put on the field anymore after the first game. Why you ask? B/c the first time I got the ball, I got so terrified at all those huge boys running at me and, for fear of getting my shins kicked, I turned, and ran the other way.... right off the field.....

- In high school, I believed that no one would ever want to date or marry me, etc. b/c I wasn't cool/tomboy enough to ride the rollercoaster or to consider skydiving or bungee jumping.

Anyway,
I know it makes for a less attractive persona for most guys, but I have finally come to terms with who I am now that I am an adult.
I still have lots of outgoing interests (hiking, camping, running, swimming, backpacking.. blah blah blah) and would be willing to try stuff like repelling... however, I will never ever be a tomboy.

I do give my hats off to the ever and endlessly desired sexies however, like melodie lane and what seems to be most of you all here at lit... if you only KNEW how hard I tried!

So, off I go now in my long, flowing, pink, satin dress with the little roses on it embroidered on the sheer mesh...... lalalalalaaa

PS: I need someone to put my spiders outside... not to kill them dammit!

hey.. i love a girl that ain't afraid to get down and dirty and beat the shit out of me.. and ya can't take a scratch-free kind of girl out hiking and camping ("are we there yet?", "my feet hurt", "AHHH!! i think i broke a nail on that steep incline!!", "oh, my soft and pretty hands!").. blech..

so, yes, it is a good thing... at least to guys who think like i do...

Personally Melody, I prefer a Lady, someone who carries themselves with dignity and poise. I also like my lady to be intelligent, and witty.

Carl.

I live with three girly girls and they are great! The important thing is to be who you are. My 7 year old is a great dancer(jazz, ballet, tap). She is not a tomboy as far as participation in sports goes either but I would not change one thing about her.

Two nights ago I was told I needed to capture the flying bug in our living room and escort it outside-NOT KILL IT! I was able to accomplish my mission much to the delight of my little girls. :) I am now a reformed bug killer, except for bees and wasps(my little one is allergic).

BTW, I would have left the poor spider alone in my friend's home but she would have become catatonic. :)

Do you forgive me for trying to kill the spider and save my friend from a fate worse than death(to her)?

That's kinda funny, to me. Are you saying that I couldn't carry myself with dignity and poise? Or be witty and intelligent? because I love to run around with my pup and wouldn't pass up an opportunity to go fishing or mountain climbing?
Don't get me wrong-I love being a girl. I love getting dressed up-and looking beautiful. All I was really asking is if guys minded a girl in a skirt with scraped knees, for example.
I suppose there is a time and place for everything. Miss Melody is always in her delicate glory, and would never dare(although may think to) cartwheel her way into a formal dining occasion.

Jade- I was always under the impression that guys wanted the sweeter, milder sex to be just that. Perceptions really are something. Cliched, perhaps-but there is truth in the saying-'the grass is always greener.'

I've loved Tomboys since I fell in love with the girl across the street in third grade who always played Tarzan and Jane with me in the woods. Again, Melody, you continue to be my "It" girl.

My dear Melody, I would never suggest you are anymore than a lady, or that you aren't witty and intelligent. Hugs

Carl.

LOL, I had the same problem! Fourth grade and I weighed a whopping 48 lbs. My dad was the coach so running off the field was not an option.

Speaking of running, I became quite a sprinter that year and I also threw my first punch. Didn't do much damage, but my form was good.

Well, I am really glad to see that the rough and tumble, yet female, type girls are attractive to most men, being one myself. There is never a time I don't have at least a bruise and a few scrapes and cuts. Though, mostly because I am a klutz. No, that's not entirely true. I have no depth perception and when things are moved on me, I cannot always tell how far away they are.
Don't kill spiders though, I take them outside, unless the type that bites. And in my household, I am the one who gives "mercy" to animals and pets.

Merelan don't you ever doubt that you are attractive!! because that you are for sure!!!

Many many thumbs up to a "rough and tumble girl". If you look at my "weird things I find attractive" thread it verifys my feelings on this.

You don't have to be a female jock/tomboy best friend type girl but I don't suffer "fragile beauties" well either. Actualy a synthesis of the two is my ideal. Someone who knows which fork to use what wine goes great with lobster and can run circles around Martha Stewart while still drinking beer from a bottle, being able to throw a baseball like a guy and not having an anxiety attack because she is confronted by a spider snake or rat.

But in an either or situation give me rough and tumble over fragile beauty.

My $0.02

*Sigh*

See what I mean Melody?

The grass is permanently green on YOUR side!

Ah well.. at least Carl still loves me.

(Off to go eat breakfast now... in my long skirt and sleevless top with the little white rose at the neckline..."dammit.. why can't I be a tomboy too!") [pouts]

We love you just the way you are Jade. There are exceptions to every rule and you are certainly worthy of one.

Like the outfit BTW:)

There is something SO appealing about a girl who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty and get a little rough.

It's sexy I guess... But I think a better word would be captivating. I could just watch a Tom Boy do her thing for hours. There's no reason a girl can't be completely feminine (Which is also captivating), and yet still be a Rough and Tumble Girl.

Go the Tom Boys!

MADDOG

Actually, I forget to add.... I know she's computer generated, and it doesn't hurt that her face, tits, and body are phenominal... But Lara Croft (Of Tomb Raider fame) is about as sexy as they come to me. She is one girl who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty and life life and all it has to offer.

Show me a woman like that in real life and I'll show you a happy man. :D

MADDOG

okay, Lara Croft. Is it me, or is she like a watered down Deborah?
I mean this as a compliment to Deborah. I think someone must have copied her, and quite badly too. No not ass kissing, just an observation.

*sigh*

I am neither one, just hopelessly caught in the middle somewhere. I don't mind getting dirt on me, but hate to get greasy. It's just icky!

Can't stand to wear dresses and skirts. I always wear pants or jeans. Don't wear makeup or fuss with my hair, although I don't like when it gets tangled because I have a habit of running my hands through it and you can't do that when it's tangled.

When confronted with spiders, snakes, and rats, I will scream and then stare in complete amazement. If they come at me I am sooo out of there, though!

I just can't understand hiking and climbing and all that other stuff. I prefer to be comfortable, and climbing to the top of some mountain and looking at the view just doesn't interest me at all. Now give me open desert with nobody else around, and I'm happy. Hmm, maybe I'm just cut out to be a hermit!

The traditional girlie sport of shopping? No way! I do it because it needs to be done, but I don't do it for recreation. Unless it's spending a couple of hours in a book store. Or Best Buy. Damn, I love that store. So much to play with.

Like KM says, I'm shutting up now. :)

I still like you anyway cutie.

C'mere and i'll give you that massage (hope your dislike of grease doesn't extend to scented oils, hee hee hee)

Tom-Boys... Tom-Women

Know how to get down - and up - and often around with women too. The bend over and do it in the woods or on a roof-top. Spider girls don't.
