Just a bit of history here.

<Resolution>
United Nations Resolution 118 (Oct. 13, 1956).

"Agrees that any settlement of the Suez question should meet the following requirements:

1) There should be free and open transit through the canal without discrimination, overt or covert - this covers both political and technical aspects;

2) The sovereignty of Egypt should be respected

3) The operations of the canal should be insulated from the politics of any country;

4) The manner of fixing tolls and charges should be decided by agreement between Egypt and the users;

5) A fair proportion of the dues should be allotted to development;

6) In case of disputes, unresolved affairs between the Suez Canal Company and the Egyptian Government should be settled by arbitration with suitable terms of reference and suitable provisions for the payment of sums found to be due."
</Resolution>

The governments of Britain and France secretly began planning for an invasion of Egypt. After several international mediation efforts had failed, Britain and France agreed in mid-October 1956 to undertake a joint intervention in Egypt. Aware of the upcoming Israeli plan to invade the Sinai, French officials suggested that a Franco-British force could enter Egypt ostensibly to separate the combatants, while actually seizing control of the entire Suez waterway.

<Resolution>
United Nations Resolution 502 (April 3, 1982)

"Deeply disturbed at reports of an invasion on 2 April 1982 by armed forces of Argentina,

Determining that there exists a breach of the peace in the region of the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas),

1) Demands an immediate cessation of hostilities;

2) Demands an immediate withdrawal of all Argentine forces from the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas);

3) Calls on the Governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to seek a diplomatic solution to their differences and to respect fully the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

</Resolution>

We all know how well that "Demands an immediate cessation of hostilities" worked. The Brits went on fighting AGAINST the U.N. Resolution DEMANDING a cessation of hostilities.

To sum up:

France = ROGUE STATE - Suez Canal 1952, invaded Egypt against U.N. Resolution 118.

United Kingdom = ROGUE STATE - Suez Canal 1952, invaded Egypt against the U.N. Resolution 118. Continued to fight in the Falklands AGAINST U.N. Resolution 502.

Amazing how interesting history can be, isn't it?

Rouge is nice.....

Is it suprising to know that since the UN was instituted, out of the 26 wars fought, only 2 times has anyone asked for sanction by the UN Security Council. 1. Korea 2. Desert Storm -both times by the United States only.

And let's not go into the present French occupation forces in the Ivory Coast.

Ah the Falklands crisis I remember it well America was the only nation to vote in favour of the military campaign. And when they saw that all the other countries were against continuing hostilities, they made it clear that if they'd known then they'd have voted against the UK.

And the UK went it alone and kicked the Argies asses all the way back home.

"Get orf my land!"

So Argentina isn't a ROGUE STATE :rolleyes: for invading another soveriegn country's territory?

Get bent.

n/a

Is someone trying to 'justify' America's planned invasion of Iraq, by using things that happened back in the 50's as a means to somehow make America look the goodies as usual? Why the fuck you seem to want to point to what the British has done is beyond me. Have you forgotten something? They are fucking supporting you and going in with you. Fucking dumb yankee fuckwinkle!

As for the French. I wouldn't want their support anyway. They couldn't fight their way to victory if the US and Britian gave them all their weapons to do so with. The frogs are just arrogant whiny little men who speak a lot of shit, but put their hands up when they realise they are short and speak a poofy language.

As for the Falklands, that was British sovereign territory. The UN tried to reach diplomatic efforts, as did Britian. The Argie fuckers were asked to leave. They didn't. Maggie put on her army boots and booted them out. The French fucking supplied them cunts with the Exocet missle and other arms.

Good to see the US has woken up and realised why the British to this day hate the French more than anyone else. I won't go into the bit about how the US wouldn't allow Britian to use certain bases as well as shipping ports to refuel. Once again, the US took the neutral route.
