He's not perfect, but he's willing to raise issues and make reforms that others won't even consider. That's a start back to the Constitution. Of course, the anti-gay stuff bothers me. I won't lie about that. On the other hand, if Bob Barr can change about that kind of thing, so can Ron Paul.

I'm no Letterman fan, but I am personally tired of all this hate directed at him. So he screwed his interns. What's good enough for Bill Clinton and Gary Condit is good enough for Dave Letterman. As long as they were legal, I don't see where people should go bashing him constantly. Admittedly, I don't take part in office romances, but that's only due to my particular circumstances. Were they different, who knows? Conventional wisdom opposes it, but CW is often wrong, anyway.

Ron Paul is part awesome and part crazy nut job. Dude wants to go back to the Gold Standard like this is 19th century Ayn Rand utopia. I'd vote for that Statist Mormon before I'd vote for Ron. He's like the libertarian version of Ralph Nader. I actually voted for Ralph Nader in 2004. He didn't win, if you're curious.

If he doesn't win or come close are least he's the only one that stands up on principal and kicks the shit out of any other politician that he goes up against during the debates. He speaks the truth about how our Government (speaking specifically at the federal level) was envisioned to be and work.

I'd rather see Palin or The Newt run against Obama.....Ron Paul might actually have a significant minority that would vote for him and the teabag astroturf nutjobs for sure.....of course I don't think that the insurance companies and fringe groups would back RP because he's down on all of them....

I think you under estimate the popularity of his movement. He got over a million votes in the primary. No telling how he would do with 4 years of growth and the crap that Obama is doing.

Well considering I don't like either the Republicans or the Democrats I think it would totally rock if he pulled away more and more votes from the Republican party. It would force the party to start embracing more and more of his values. If they don't they are never going to win. So I say go Ron Paul and bring the party back to it's roots and what it stands for!

I'm with you on that. Being a weak-willed fellow myself, I have a few Monicas in my past. There's just something irresistible about the girl next door type. I was always hot for the Dave's intern - the one who accidentally broke the story.

Back OT - I think what sets third party candidates apart is the fact that they know they can't win. With this knowledge, they don't have to pander for votes and financial support.

I really wish we could see some kind of reform in Washington. When legislation is for sale to the highest bidder, is it any surprise things turn out the way they do? What's even worse is the fact that the Cons see buying legislation as part of the free market system. Spend a million, get a billion back in tax breaks and sweetheart deals. What is it Ami keeps talking about, the "integrity" inherent in the free market? Excuse me while I go barf.

edit: Anyway, the President doesn't take power until 2013, so regardless of who wins it won't matter cuz the world is gonna end in December 2012. I hope. What do I know about the gold standard and the federal reserve? I package government(municipal, state, federal) debt and sell it to private institutions as an occupation. I'm not talking about your fantasy fiction ideas of currency, the Lord of the Rings style fantasy ideas Ron Paul has about the Fed and economics. There's no one that has consistently shown that they've no clue how economies function as Ron Paul and most libertarians. I was saying RP was only part nut job too, relax, Blockhead.
