Why all the outcry over this? Stores will not sell the issue. FaceBook pages are popping up against it. People are canceling subscriptions. WTF?

The first rule of combat is to dehumanize your enemy... If you humanize them, then you can't torture and abuse them.

The coverpunk and his bro did a pretty good job of dehumanizing, torturing, and abusing their enemies...

...wouldn't you say, dick?

[Talking]
Ha ha ha, I don't believe it
Da, da, ah, ah don't touch it
Hey, Ray, hey, Sugar, tell them who we are...

Well, we're big rock singers
We got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go...(That sounds like us)
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten thousand dollars a show...(Right)
We take all kinds of pills that give us all kind of thrills
But the thrill we've never known
Is the thrill that'll getcha when you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

(Rollin' Stone...) Wanna see my picture on the cover
(Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for my mother...(Yes)
(Stone...) Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone...(That's a very very good idea)

I got a freaky ole lady name a cocaine Katy
Who embroiders on my jeans
I got my poor ole grey haired daddy
Drivin' my limousine
Now it's all decided to blow our minds
But our minds won't really be blown
Like the blow that'll gitcha when you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

(Rollin' Stone...) Wanna see our pictures on the cover
(Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for our mothers...(Yeah)
(Stone...) Wanna see my smilin face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

[Talking]
Hey, I know how
Rock and roll...

[Instrumental]

Ah, that's beautiful

We got a lot of little teenage blue eyed groupies
Who do anything we say
We got a genu-wine Indian Guru
Who's teaching us a better way
We got all the friends that money can buy
So we never have to be alone
And we keep gettin' richer but we can't get our picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone

(Rollin' Stone...) Wanna see my picture on the cover
(Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for my mother...(Wa wa)
(Stone...) Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
On the cover of the Rollin'...
(Stone...) Wanna see my picture on the cover

[Talking]
I don't know why we ain't on the cover, baby...

(Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for my mother

[Talking]
We're beautiful subjects...

(Stone...) Wanna see my smilin' face

[Talking]
I ain't kiddin', we would make a beautiful cover...

On the cover of the Rollin' Stone...

[Talking]
Fresh shot, right up front, man...
I can see it now, we'll be up in the front...
Smilin', man...
Ahh, beautiful...

it's in poor taste, to say the least.

rolling stone has a history of putting rock stars, actors and famous celebrities on its cover. putting this little shit on there is, in the critics minds, glamourizing terrorists.
there already seems to be evidence of terrorists copying previous terrorists, and the worry is that this sort of cheap stunt to sell magazines may contribute to the misguided future terrorists' sick ambitions

in our lifetime those who kill
the news world hands them stardom
and these are the ways
on which I was raised
these are the ways
on which I was raised

i never wanted to kill
i am not naturally evil
such things I do
just to make myself
more attractive to you
have I failed?

I keep saying it: America reached a tipping point lately. We're over Muslim terrorists and nigga gangstaz.

Its like how during the 60s the Libruls influenced decent people to abuse our troops, then the decent people got wise to the manipulation and turned on the libruls. Its happened again. Libruls championed ganstas and terrorists, and now decent people are sick of it.

Agreed. This isn't an issue of right or left, but right or wrong. Putting this psychopath on the cover of a glossy pop-culture magazine is clearly wrong. Jann Wenner should hang his head in shame.

But it's ok to have covers of Hitler, bin Laden and Manson?

there's a difference between Time magazine, which is arguably more news based and journalistic. they can get away with it, usually.

rolling stone used to be about music, now it's more about pop culture and shite like that. and let's face it, they're lucky to still be in print.

From a journalism standpoint Rolling Stone is no different than any other. At one time they were among the best although not so much any more but they still cover real news with real journalists. No reason they should be singled out.

"pop culture and shiat"?

Rolling Stone routinely has stories about government waste and excesses. They have one of the best political reporters alive today (the great Matt Tabibi) as one of their writers. The late Michael Hastings exposed a four star general as a conniving political huckster in Rolling Stone, leading to the general's ouster from the military.

The article about the bomber is actually quite good. He's a deeply defective person who embraced radical Islam as a coping mechanism to escape his even more deeply defective family.

from their own mouth:
"Rolling Stone Magazine features music, album and artist news, movie reviews, political, economic and pop culture commentary, videos, photos, and more."
so they're basically saying they're mostly about pop culture, and to the average american that's what they're known as.

whatever, i think it's in poor taste. personally i don't give a fuck about this kid, i don't have any interest in his story. is his story more important than the stories of the people he stupidly, callously killed or maimed?

Again, was bin Ladens story more important than the thousands he killed? Was Mansons more important than Tates?
I still don't see why you think they're just pop culture. It's their main focus but has never been their only one. They've always covered current events and politics.

i didn't say i condone those cover stories either. i'm sure some people are pscyhed as hell to read all about those fucking douchebags, some people love indulging their morbid curiosities. i'm not of that ilk.

It's news. Would you prefer we just ignore them and pretend they don't exist?

My objection is not to the story itself (which I haven't read), but to the cover. It almost doesn't matter what the story says. They are glorifying this psychopath by placing him on the cover, in a space that's usually occupied by the likes of Johnny Depp and Lady Gaga. It's a pathetic attempt to be provocative and boost sales. Meanwhile, the wounds are still healing and the trial hasn't even begun.

there's a pretty huge fucking maw between an article describing the sick punk's background and a "dreamy" cover shot, which is arguably tantamount to celebrity status. it's not an either-or situation, is it?

So now it's the picture itself? A minute ago it was because they cover pop culture.
