Rock and Roll hall of fame

Dude, totally. Whenever I'm looking for a bass player, if his career aspiration isn't listed as, "I just really want to sound like Rush. My favorite 80s band is awesome!" I don't even bring him in for a listen.

You are obviously very knowledgeable of music and I assume you are also a musician.

Who is at the top of your lists of bass and lead guitarists?

So Alice Cooper just got formally notified that the original Alice Cooper band has made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and used the occasion to announce the original band is getting back together to do a mini-tour in celebration. LINK

Who? Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner?

rush was great in their time, their skills as musicians and popularity over the years is testament to their quality.

dumb image

Nobody questioned their musicianship, it's their music that blows goats.

hey it was the only haters image i could find on short notice

they had some good shit and they had some shit shit. but their good shit was good, according to millions around the world.

Millions around the world know Tom Sawyer and that's it.
They aint no Tim McGraw, I'll say that.

Oh. The touring band. Not the guys who actually made the records.

The 3 guys I listed were the original band from Love it to Death, Schools out, Killer, Billion $ Babies and Muscle of Love, they wrote and toured.

Hunter/Wagner wrote and toured Nightmare and Go to Hell.

Hired guns afterwards

Hunter/Wagner wrote and recorded Cooper albums long before Alice decided to drop the pretense and dump the original band.

They are also Aerosmith on Get Your Wings and pretty much KISS through the late 70's and early 80's.

I can never answer questions like this; too many other questions pop up for me. In a band? In a steady band where they aren't the front man? A solo artist with a steady band behind him? A solo artist who is the featured name, regardless of who the other players are? A hired-gun sideman? A studio guy? A chitlin guy? Current? Past? What genre--rock? Blues? Jazz? Others? Able to play all?

But I wasn't trying to knock Rush, necessarily (not that--let's face it--it isn't easy). I was just making a little fun of the notion that the only possible reason not to like them is that you really, really want to play like them and just can't.

By the way, in case nobody noticed, Tom Waits made it. A victory for iconoclasts everywhere (he tries to assure himself).

I kinda like Alice Coopers radio show when I hear it which isn't really all that often. I find him easy to listen to as a DJ.
