Chief Justice John Roberts delays handover of Trump's tax returns to House panel

Chief Justice John Roberts on Tuesday put a temporary hold on the handover of former president Donald Trump's tax returns to a congressional committee.

It's long past the time when we need to see Trump's tax returns. The mere fact that he's fought so hard to conceal them, when people running for president know up front that they are supposed to be made public (not to mention that he promised to make them public), tells anyone with a brain that he's concealing corruption and criminality.

Yawn.
I would think there are more pressing issues to take on right now. Letting criminals run free, inflation, the war in Ukraine, looming food shortages, looming fuel shortages. The list goes on.

WE (the peons) don't need to see them at all. Ever. The investigators do though. There should have been no questiions or delays. Request. Receive. The same day

You can always tell when someone has a weak position. They turn to attempts at distraction.

One of the pressing issues we have is that fully a quarter of Americans are as much the seditious, domestic terrorist scum of the earth as you are.

Welcome back Old Urinal....I thought maybe the COVID got you...

LOL, move along folks. Nothing to see here, especially not fraud and criminal activity.

it really should be a requirement for candidacy. integrity is of the utmost importance for this office.

Then again, if that were held in practice, 45 would never have been allowed to run to begin with. Virtually every living person knew he was a complete and total fraud.

Extensive financial reports are required of candidates seeking the presidency. Far more extensive than what’s required on a tax return.

Feel free to post the ones 45 made available to the public.

Well, if there’s inappropriate fillings I would think the IRS would go forward with the appropriate investigations and if necessary the appropriate fines and criminal charges. Nothing more than a witch hunt. If making tax returns a prerequisite for running for office then make it a law, until then stop the whining.

So if these are far more extensive, then why would any candidate have issues making tax returns public? Wouldn't it be much less intrusive and easier?
I don’t know but if I had to guess wrt to Trump, it’s because they contain something he considers embarrassing. Taxable income and expenses have little resemblance to income and expenses calculated on standard financial reports.

I'm 100% on board with this as a law.

I also want a dark money ban.

Formal corporate tax returns contain confidential material of a business’s strategic business model. If there’s statutory violations then the IRS is the appropriate enforcement arm of the government.
