he took some 300 documents, 30 of which were marked 'top secret' and kept them in various, unauthorised, locations in and around his home

According to the plea agreement, Birchum, who retired in 2018 as a lieutenant colonel, served in various positions in intelligence over his 29-year career, including those requiring him to work with classified intelligence information for the Joint Special Operations Command, the Special Operations Command and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Prosecutors specifically noted that Birchum possessed two documents on a thumb drive found in his home that contained information relating to the National Security Agency’s capabilities and methods of collection and targets’ vulnerabilities. Their unauthorized release could have caused exceptionally grave damage to the national security of the United States, officials said.

appears he didn't show them to anyone else... perhaps they were to be used at a later date for some nefarious purpose or simply as a kind of tool for his own protection against other agencies; then again, it might just be he had a YUGE ego and saw himself as personally involved in the affairs of the documents. Was he potentially keeping them from trump? keeping them for trump? who knows... i doubt the public will ever get a deeper insight into this.

You should add another layer and adjust the tension on your chapeau.

Has anyone looked in Michael Flynn’s footlocker?
JHC this is stupid. Flynn was a general. They don't have footlockers. He had valets and adjutants to take care of his crap. Footlockers are for the cannon fodder living in the barracks. Now if you checked his Gucci briefcase you might find a few of those super secret documents that Trump declassified with his mind crumpled up in the bottom.

Comshaw

In that case they'd better search Ivana's grave at Bedminster, where all those documents were known to be taken and disappeared.
