Request for constructive comments

Hello all!

I feel like my writing has become a bit stagnant and am not sure what I can do to change it. Better grammar? Better story lines? Something else entirely? Thanks for taking the time and please let me know either here or at lizthewizz2000@yahoo.com.

I know what you mean by stagnant. Sometimes I will have four or five stories in various states of completion on my desktop and when I step back and really look at them, I realize I'm writing essentially the same characters in essentially the same situations with only the minute details changed. What I try to do then is pick a story category that I normally NEVER write in, or to deliberately pick characters that I personally would not find attractive, at least initially. Or sometimes I just switch gears completely and write non-erotic fiction, or creative nonfiction, for a while. Anything to dig myself out of the rut.

The characters thing works especially well, I think; it's always a challenge to make erotic characters that, in real life, you can't imagine yourself finding erotic. For me, since I am most interested in a character's thoughts and depth, I have a hard time creating sympathetic sorority girl or frat boy-type characters because I always imagine them to be vacuous and two-dimensional. Okay, so I know that's not ALWAYS the case in real life, but it's the way MY brain sees them; thus the challenge is to overcome that and flesh them out as real people. Or maybe the characters are a fifty-five year old accountant and a burgeoning rap star. I don't know. Anything that's far from normal for your writing. Make your brain think in new ways and good writing seems to follow. Just my two cents' . . .

Thanks for the two cents, Mike and Mouse! Now if only I can find 67 more cents...hmmm....

It is definitely good advice and I noticed that the story that has the best results is one where my usual character (a variation on me ) introduced f/f love with an Asian character. Hmmm...well my wheels are a-turnin' and fingers are ready to go (but not for typing lolol )
