Basically, women are bombarded with PMs. Even when they're politely approached, the MO is usually the same -- they want the woman to do all the talking in order to get off. Most guys who PM really aren't interested in the person they're talking to, just their dirty thoughts. It's usually not a conversation; it's usually a guy saying, "Tell me more," or "Send me a pic," after every message they get. They usually don't contribute to a two-way conversation. The feeling I've gotten in the past are that male PMers are looking for a one-way porn experience they don't have to pay for. It's disrespectful of women in a cheapskate sorta way. The typical sexy woman online is not a free porn bot.

The best way to start a PM correspondence is to get into a conversation with a woman in a public discussion. If the conversation is that good or is getting too personal or off-topic, that's when you request a chance to PM.

Don't be offended if she says, "no." You aren't the first guy to ask.

It's not that women don't like talking dirty; they just don't want to do all the talking or talking dirty with random strangers.
