Republicans

the dems are going to destroy this nation with their liberal give aways

So said the right-wingers in response to the 40 hour work week, minimum wages, child labor laws, Social Security...need I go on?

Wonder if the Senate Republicans are enjoying the weekend Mitch McConnell has given them off.

‘Putin wins again’: Trump ripped for ‘coronavirus news dump’ that DOJ is ending prosecution of election meddling

Attorney General Bill Barr’s Department of Justice moved to end a prosecution over 2016 foreign election meddling in an after-hours filing on Monday.

“The U.S. Justice Department moved Monday to drop its two-year-long prosecution of a Russian company charged with orchestrating a social media campaign to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” The Washington Post reported Monday evening. “The stunning reversal came weeks before the case — a spin off of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe — was to go to trial.”

Now that's real Trumpublicunt Justice!

Clearly you haven't been following his updates. I'm all set, thanks.

I am glad Donald actually showed some leadership, woke up to reality, and realizes the US is in trouble.

Can he lead the US out of this disaster, time will tell.

I cataloged Trump's "wake up" day on the Political board. The reset was cataloged at noon on Saturday, March 14th. Four days ago--six weeks after anyone with half a brain knew we had to start preparing for this.

The most important thing for public health in an outbreak is to retain the public’s trust, because ultimately so much of the public response depends on people complying with public health guidance. If we don’t have trust, we’re unlikely to have compliance.

How does the week of Honest Trump, offset the years of ....will the "public" trust what he says?

Is he now the "President who cried wolf"?

GOP senator suggests it’s no big deal if coronavirus kills 11 million Americans

Some RESET some rave on!

On Wednesday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel highlighted a quote from Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) in a new interview, in which he appeared to suggest that it wouldn’t be worth shutting down the economy over the risk of 11 million Americans dying.

“I’m not denying what a nasty disease COVID-19 can be, and how it’s obviously devastating to somewhere between 1 and 3.4 percent of the population,” said Johnson. “But that means 97 to 99 percent will get through this and develop immunities and will be able to move beyond this. But we don’t shut down our economy because tens of thousands of people die on the highways. It’s a risk we accept so we can move about. We don’t shut down our economies because tens of thousands of people die from the common flu.”

How many will be Rethuglicans though?

Trump would have to attain the public trust before having any hope of retaining it. He gave up that position years ago--before he was elected. He only digs deeper day by day.

Secret audio reveals top GOP senator knew how devastating COVID-19 was weeks ago — but didn’t warn the public

U.S. Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr, Republican of North Carolina, three weeks ago told a private, exclusive audience just how lethal and devastating coronavirus is, but said nothing to the general public.

“There’s one thing I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything we have seen in recent history,” Senator Burr says in the secret audio recording (below) obtained by NPR.

And they got all the TP!

Republican Richard Burr’s stock-dumping promotes widespread outrage: ‘Lock him up’

On Thursday, following a damning ProPublica report that Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) dumped $1.6 million of stock in coronavirus-affected companies while telling the public the virus was not cause for major concern, commenters on social media took to Twitter to rage at the senator’s actions.

Some pointed out that Burr was one of just three senators to vote against legislation restricting members’ of Congress ability to trade stocks on government information. Others simply called for him to resign.

Maybe he just need the cash to buy a boat? You know to socially distance himself.;)

BUSTED: Second GOP senator caught dumping stocking — after receiving coronavirus briefing

Two Republican senators have admitted in public filings to having sold stock just before the crash of the stock market.

The first was Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC). Hours later, The Daily Beast reported interim Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA).

“The Senate’s newest member sold off seven figures worth of stock holdings in the days and weeks after a private, all-Senators meeting on the novel coronavirus that subsequently hammered U.S. equities,” The Beast reported.

To be fair, they're both just doing what they think all rich folks ought to be allowed to do.

‘Why was Rand Paul going to the Senate gym in the middle of a pandemic’: Ex-federal prosecutor demands answers

Sen. Rand Paul isn’t showing symptoms of the coronavirus, but he tested positive for COVID-19. But that didn’t deter him from the gym. Other senators saw him at the members-only area on Sunday morning. It prompted one former federal prosecutor to ask why Paul was out and about to begin with and why he was putting the lives of others at risk.

“Why was Rand Paul swimming and going to the Senate gym in the middle of a pandemic?” asked Renato Mariotti.

Doing his duty to spread the wealth?

Rand Paul announces he has been diagnosed with coronavirus and is in quarantine

According to his social media announcement, “Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.”

He should visit Mitch to get the Kentucky issues sorted out before he expires!:)

GOP senators say they ‘don’t need to quarantine’ after lunch with Rand Paul: ‘We’ll be praying’

Republican senators on Sunday reacted to the news that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

In a statement to reporters, Romney said that he was praying for Paul, who has decreased lung capacity due to recent injuries.

“And of course, all the senators are going to seek medical advice as to what action we should take,” Romney said before admitting that he and other Republican senators had lunch with Paul two days earlier.

“We have to determine whether any of use should self-quarantine as a result being in the same room,” the senator added.

But just minutes later Sen John Kennedy (R-LA) insisted that doctors had told him that he does not have to quarantine himself away from others.

Perhaps out of an abundance of caution all the Rethuglicans should self quarantine for a few months! ..:)

Since Donald Trump was sworn into office I've heard Republicans proclaim that collusion isn't a crime, fraud isn't a crime, sexual assault isn't a crime, perjury isn't a crime and lying to the FBI isn't a crime.

Once upon a time, didn't the Republican Party claim to be the Party of Law and Order? How did they become the Party of Obstruction and Cover-Ups?

For the past forty years there's been a concerted effort to eject all responsible adults from the Republican Party.

Now, we have a petty, incompetent Republican president who only clearly cares about his re-election campaign; Republican congressmen who are only concerned about Trump’s image; and Republican senators who exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to perpetrate insider trading.
