Republican Noise Machine

Because you have never seen any work from Michael Moore. You have no idea what Michael Moore is. You equate him to Rush with no data whatever.

Why do you bother to say these things when you are talking from such deep ignorance?

Do you imagine the rest of us know so little? It's preposterous.

Do you want to know what it means, Saudi Influence, in the context of this topic?

*Shrug* I've seen plenty of Moore. Frankly, I'm not that impressed. He doeesn't talk quite as much as Limbaugh, but what's there is a mess of name-calling, straw man arguments, and half-truths. I'd like to lock them both together in a small box, but there's just the slightest chance they might breed.

Why do people keep saying I have never seen anything by Moore? I have seen a lot of his stuff.

Thank you for telling me what I have or have not looked at.

Have you read any of Geroge W. Bush's books?

Well, the man spent a good long time in Fahrenheit 9-11 laying out the relationships of investment partnering our president enjoyed with the Sa'ud and bin Laden families, and the exemption they received to use civilian aircraft when the rest of the country was grounded.

The bin Ladens were worried they might be questioned or something, so they got a special clearance to get in their planes and leave the country during the period when the rest of us were stuck on the ground, and before they were interviewed by the investigating teams. There were very nearly no exceptions to the grounding, except for the bin Ladens.

Maybe twenty minutes of the film was about that stuff. If you have looked at it, it's hard to tell from here, if you can't recognize the reference to the Bush/Saudi connection when the discussion is about Michael Moore.

Thank you for speaking as though you had never seen the film. You suckered me completely, pard. Now I really look like a fool.

i would not ever watch anything by Moore. However I did read the transcript of his Dateline interview. In his own words he admits faerinheight 911 is a personal attack on the Bush family.

Doc M, was quite candid in saying he felt the movie could have been more poawerful if it had foregone the Bush bashing and just stuck to the facts, but that isn't Moore's way.

I think grouping him with Rush is pretty accurate. The fat one generally has a kernal of truth, from which he flies into Ad hominem attacks on those he dislikes or disagrees with. From all I have read, that seems to be Moore's MO as well.

Of course my view is subjective, as I haven't actually seen anything by him. Still, I feel it's a pretty accurate assesment based on what I have read.

The comparison of Limbaugh and Moore seems to appeal to those who have little or no acquaintance with Moore.

In looking for Moore's lies or errors--there are right wing websites so devoted-- I could only find ONE *clear* one. There is one murky one.

The murky one: Moore doesn't exactly say the Saudis flew out of the US during the height of the air travel ban, but, iirc, that they were flown around inside the US on chartered planes, and 'collected' at key airports during that period.

It seems that they actually flew out of the US, from those collection points, the day the ban was lifted, but Moore doesn't make this clear.

It is true that none were held by the FBI or other agency, and they were only briefly questioned by the FBI, which--covering their asses-- the FBI says was quite sufficient.

The ONE clear one: Moore says the representatives of the Taliban, just after it took power, were received with much hospitality and fanfare in Texas (and in some other parts of the US), which is true. However he says the Taliban folks, when in Texas, met with Governor Bush. Actually they only met with some of Bush's Republican oil buddies and other state politicians.

I would be happy to see any other alleged errors of the 9-11 movie. (Much is based on the Unger(?) book; _House of Bush; House of Saud_. Again, the book is mostly unrefuted, though often reviled by some folks.)
