Not sure who I can forward it to or what the procedure is on here? They are showing 0 posts so I am guessing they may be banned already. Does this site have a minimum post count to send PM's?

No, there is no minimum post requirement to send PMs. If there were, none of us would get messages from people with zero or just a few posts under their belts.

I'm not quite sure who deals with spam PMs, but I'd forward a threatening PM to Laurel or Manu. AFAIK, they're either the primary or only ones with admin powers.

If this person is spamming behind the scenes and not posting at all, I'd bet they're an alt of an established member. The way their profile is set up makes me think that, too.

Maybe a moderator like LadyG or someone like WeirdHarold will have a better idea for you.

i think erika's covered all the major bases.

if you put a user on ignore, i believe that makes it impossible for him/her to send you PMs, though.

Just ignore em, they'll quickly get the hint and leave you alone.

Lucky, I wish I got random PMs. Enjoy them and feel popular...not like you're forced to read them. :D

Random pms are just an occupational hazard on Lit, like junk email or circulars. Just chuck the offender on ignore and they'll be unable to pm you, as silverwhisper said.

It's social Darwinism. For every literate, informed and courteous poster on Lit there are a whole bunch of spammers, serial pm senders, horny teens and creepy psychos. Some people have lines in their signature saying either that they're in a relationship and not interested in horny pms, or that they won't reply to unsolicited pms (i.e. those sent by people with whom they've had no interaction on the forum threads) and don't cyber or swap pics etc.

There are guys here who will sit in front of their PC, copy/pasting the same pm (with just the one hand) and sending it to every username that appears vaguely female and you really can't reason with morons like that.

OTOH if they're really abusive or threatening, that's a matter for the site managers as they're probably harassing a number of people and you can never really know just how determined and unhinged a bitter, jilted, serial spammer might be. If that's the case their accounts can be disabled and their IP address blocked.

Jut figured the admin would want to ban the name, they are advertising a dating website.

I would forward the PM to a mod and then put the offender on Ignore.

It's not that common for Lit spammers to go the PM route, but I've heard of it happening. I'd be willing to bet that other people have received this PM as well.

Just because it's a PM doesn't mean that it's not a violation of Lit rules. Spam is spam, right?
