we're actually not vegan (frightfully hooked on dairy products), but we have been vegetarian for over twenty years, and aside from a few odd twitches we're quite healthy. no known new year's food customs, tho we often do the black-eyed pea thing. for some reason we didn't this year. are we cursed? can we blame all our misfortunes this year on our slip up?

I think the black-eyed peas symbolize health. Maybe it's wealth, I don't really remember. Why doesn't eating the peas and cabbage give us luck any other day? Do they know what day it is?
