I doubt the Republicans will be so out of control that they'll let it come to that--but, mathematically, it could if they aren't careful.

I would have liked for the Democrats to have convinced a large enough coalition of Republicans to join them in electing a moderate Republican who supported bipartisanship and stuck it to the crazy contingent in the Republican Party and helped the RNC on the road to recovering from Trump.
