Remove Soap Taste from Water Bottles

Over time the soapy taste will go away. Remember dish soap is DE-GREASER, like laundry detergent...it's acts too disperse grease, dirt away and traps it in the water and bubbles, hence the rinse cycle .... If the soap isn't agitated to bubble up, it clings and leaves that "Taste"

As for cleaning you water bottles:

Vodka....NOPE, not kidding. When I was heavy into Mountain Biking, I found it really REALLY hard to clean the Camel Back, water-bladder. handed down suggestion.... 4-6oz of vodks. shake the heck out of it... let it sit for an hour. rinse thoroughly....then let drip dry

Epson Salt......Soak your bottles in 1-2 cups per gallon of hot water....

And never dishwasher, Water bottles. over time it warp the tops...then you get the ultimate surprise...a soaked chest

I can see the Vodka working for killing germs and bacteria and odours caused from that, but do you think it would help with soap odour/residue? It would be a simple remedy and one to keep in mind.

I'd try covering the lids in activated charcoal and letting them be for a few days. You might try the same thing with baking soda and putting them in the sun for a while, too.

If the plastic bottle was in the dish washer (with a heating element) during the drying cycle, the plastic might have melted the plastic slightly enough for the chemicals of the soap to bond to the plastic.
If this is the case, then all you do afterwards to try to remove the taste will amount to naught.

Not all plastics are the same, but all plastics are capable of melting, it's just at what level of heat. Just like all plastics are not microwave safe.

Baby bottles are capable to be put into boiling water but only for 5-10 minutes.
