So it is offically November 11, Rememberance Day up here in Canada.

A day where we take a moment or two to remember those who have fallen for us and those who still continue to serve. I have always said a prayer and gave my thanks, not just on this day but many days, although this years Rememberance Day touches me a lot closer to home...

My Grandfather passed away earlier this year, he served durring WW2, a Black Devil he was. We had always had lengthy conversations on this day in years past, never about the war though, he only wanted to talk about the good days, never the bad. But this year all I can do is remember him, and I shall.

So please use this thread to Remember those loved ones, both past and in service right now. They all need our support and our love.

On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month, We Remember.

Not quite the 11th here ... but remembering shouldn't stand on ceremony.

Hi Dad.

As we also near Veteran's Day in the US, I can't help but remember my so's grandfather who served in the Navy during certain conflicts as well as my best friend's father who served in the Marine Corp for twenty some odd years. My greatest memory of his was when we started bombing Baghdad in the first conflict. He yelled for his sons and me to run downstairs so we could watch it like a football game. If it wasn't for him, I would have never joined the service.

Great thread Brightdawn. :kiss:

Obviously it's Rememberance day here too.

The war ended at 11 minutes past 11 on 11th of November. And we should ALWAYS remember those who fell, no matter if we agree with the circumstances.

DB looks like you posted at the right time with true words. Thank you.

Thanks Public, some memories can be happy ones.

And I totally agree Starry, today is a day to remember all who served and continue to serve, and thank you that song makes me cry each time I hear it.

The Sentinels Creed

My dedication to this sacred duty is total and wholehearted.

In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter.

And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection.

Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements,

I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability.

It is he who commands the respect I protect.

His bravery that made us so proud.

Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day alone in the thoughtful peace of night,

this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance.

My grandfather served on board the Enterprise during the Battle at Midway. I really miss him. I give my respects to you on your day of rememberance, and whether I agree with war or not, I support all the Armed Forces, past and present, who protect(ed) and defend(ed) their countries and their fellow citizens.

To those who serve/have served... thank you.

To those who have fallen... rest in peace.

...and know that you did make a difference.

The Naval Prayer

O Eternal Lord God,
who alone spread'st out the heavens,
and rulest the raging of the sea;
who has compassed the waters with bounds
until day and night come to an end;
be pleased to receive into Thy almighty and most gracious protection
the persons of us Thy servants,
and the Fleet in which we serve.

Preserve us from the dangers of the sea,
and from the violence of the enemy;
that we may be a safeguard unto our most gracious Sovereign Lady,
Queen Elizabeth,
and her Dominions,
and a security for such as pass upon the seas upon their lawful occasions;
that the inhabitants of our Commonwealth may in peace and quietness
serve Thee our God;
and that we may return in safety
to enjoy the blessings of the land,
with the fruits of our labours,
and with a thankful remembrance of Thy mercies
to praise and glorify Thy Holy Name;
Amen.

I agree fully, to support someone doesn't always mean you have to agree with them, and this is seen more and more these days. Not everyone agrees with the situation that we find our loved ones in, but we are here to support them, not the situation.
