Afghan stitch is a good stitch to start with. I promise it gets easier. I'm knitting a feather and fan shawl for my SIL.

It is called the afghan stitch. You cast on and off the needle. I had never heard of it myself, someone taught it to me. I'm also just making a scarf, not an afghan.

It is a little. The curling shows how tight.
I don't know how you tension your wool.... some people do multiple loops on their tension hand. Maybe loosen one off?
