I think my mildest story is the time POF matched me up with the woman that had just broken up with me

Something interesting i noticed while i was on POF was the difference between men and women in their attitude toward meeting in person. I saw a lot of men complaining that they didn't want a pen pal, a few texts were okay, but then they wanted to meet face to face.

One of the things that initially appealed to me about online dating was the opportunity to vet a man to some degree before deciding whether i wanted to meet him or not. I wanted to get to know them intellectually, find out what kind of a communicator he is, etc. without having to deal with the question of sex. 'Cause buddy, if it ain't working for me via the written word and on the phone, then there's really no point in meeting.

I found most men were at one end of the spectrum or the other on this issue: either they wanted to meet as soon as was convenient, or else they didn't care about meeting 'cause they were only looking for a sexy chat and some naughty pics.

Overall, i found the experience not worth the effort i put in to it as far as locating potential partners, but i will say that it was a real learning experience in terms of learning more about men.

I tend to agree. From the man's perspective, I found a lot of women that were only interested in a pen pal/ chat buddy, and very few that wanted to meet IRL. The few that did want to meet I feel were just looking to socialize, and not looking for anything deeper. Online dating can be tricky to find that balance between friendship/ relationship/ sexual partner.
