When I look at the new threads now, they're about 50% focused on the latest posturings of a single (not even attractive) US politician. I try to stay open to the kinks of others, so I'm asking this with an open mind.

Does he appear here so much because he's now achieved the status of fetishism: like, folks can't get aroused on a sex site without discussing him? Does hie tie get you hard? Does his hair intrigue you? Does the poetry of his prose leave you weak at the knees?

Or, should literotica remain a place of relative refuge, leaving twitterXfacebookToktikblueskymastodon to cover those other hate-filled bases of unlistening rant, thinly disguised as 'discussion'?

A few questions first: Are you an American? Who did you vote for? Are you a white heterosexual or identify as a Christian male?

It's a "free speech forum" by premise, and somewhat by design. That, plus the nature of its focus, brings out people who hate the free expression of sexuality (right-fringe incels), who love it, and who secretly love it but have been told to hate themselves for loving it, and thus express mostly hate.

It's still a refuge for great people, but also for awful people whose families won't interact with them any longer. I don't see the latter going away unless the administration radically changed the focus of the place.

We do, however, have a separate Politics forum now. Better than nothing.

Welcome to the Free Speech Ghetto known as the Literotica Politics Board.

Have you ever been minding your own business on, say, a New York City public subway and a mentally unbalanced man (or, in rare instances, a woman claiming to be some Marine Corps captain's wife) boards the car and proceeds to lecture his (or her) captive audience with detailed accounts of space aliens and anal probes?

That was the Literotica General Board about six or so years ago. A select brand of hyperconservative ne'er-do-wells essentially hijacked the General Board on a daily basis. Most of them were unemployed and on disability, so this allowed them the freedom of lecturing their captive audience for literally hours at a time, from sunup to sundown

Management of this board saw the dwindling engagement numbers of the General Board, many folks "voted with their feet" and left forever, it just wasn't pleasurable to being lectured daily by White Supremacists (and their "even more odious" mixed race "Semi-White Supremacist Auxilliary".

Ergo, this board.

It's not for everyone.

Think of Literotica is being like a small city. There are some nice older sections, and some nice newer sections. Flowers bloom, birds sing, trees bud out in the spring time. And then there is the political board. It is the neighbourhood down by the sewer treatment plant. Think of derelict streets strewn with trash and used needles and broken glass, with abandoned houses and its only occupants being meth whores and on-the-run criminals.


In short, there are so many places to post on lit for kinks and other things. This forum isn’t it.

Also, the question of fetishizing trump should be directed solely towards those who voted for him. Everyone else sees and recognizes him as a danger. I, and I would venture to bet no other member identifying as a voting democrat, own no no article of clothing idolizing any candidate that we see fit to wear 365 days of the year. I'm not sure my own attributes are that relevant to the broader question, but in response to bn2f's query, and for what it's worth, here goes. Much of the info you seek is on my profile, but as a summary, I'm not American, humanist, male, hetero, and white. If you're from the US, my political choices don't equate to yours, because labels like "right wing", "liberal" and "socialist" are pretty reductive. So although I could tell you about the last vote I cast, it would be irrelevant: plus, voter confidentiality is a principle people died for, and I'm not compromising it here.

The overall scene that I see members trying to convey to you, is that the PB exist and if other members do not like it, they do not necessarily need to come here. I respect that. Those who stand for democracy are never ashamed to tell you who they voted for whether times are good or bad.
