So this will probably sound like a newbie question but...

There's a red "H" next to one of my stories. What does this mean and how did it get there?

Erica :rose:

it means enough people have voted your story a 5, which means it's now "hot". you have to average a rating of 4.5 or better to maintain it. :>

Congrats. It's a HOT symbol meaning your story averaged a 4.5 or higher with atleast 10 votes cast. Good job.

That definitely sounds like a newbie question, but you have been around more than two years, so you are not a newbie. What it means is that the story has at least ten votes and those votes average 4.50 or higher.

Congratulations. :rose:

A red H, you been told about.

A green E is an Editor's choice symbol.

A blue W is a contest winner.

Thanks to everyone who got back to me on this! Yay...some people actually like my story! :)

Thank you for noticing. :rose:

Now all I need is a blue W. ;)

Of course it would help if I entered a contest!!!

You don't have to enter contests to win a W. If one of your stories wins a monthly prize or is nominated for an annual prize in a specific category and wins, you can still rate a W

It's kinda like being in the "scouts" and earning merit badges, isn't it? :D

I was in the scouts, never really got into that merit badge stuff. *shrugs*

You're right. Then again I am not a real prolific writer and I don't write in some of the categories that would most likely garner me a win.

I'm always pleased when one of my scribbles bags an H ...it means the readers enjoy what I've written and that's what it's all about isn't it? :D
