Recurring Characters

Yep, they get whatever was contracted off the top. It's kind of a blow not to be able to point out that dot in the background as you to your friends, though.

I had a friend, an amateur actor, many years ago whose claim to fame was having "had a role in the movie Johnny B Good (1988, with Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey, Jr.)."

Of course, what he didn't tell people was that his "role" was as one of three thousand screaming fans, for which he got paid $50. :p

I was paid $100 and donuts and coffee a couple of years ago to stand around and NOT even been filmed in Evan Almighty. My car made more than I did in shared appearances in The Deerhunter.

To answer your question, I took one character from a multi-parter and gave her her own spin-off story. The plot was alluded to in the multi-parter. If I ever decide to try writing a gay male story (which would be an area I have zero experience in), it will be another side story out of that same multi-parter. I have some beginning notes but not sure if I've got the balls to actually give it a go. My not having the balls being the biggest challenge... ;-)
