My wife and I do some bondage, but usually I'm the one tying her up. We want to switch roles, but she isn't very creative and doesn't have a clue where to start. Can any one recommend a good bondage book for beginners?

How ironic. I just started a thread in the how to forum regarding Chinese bondage. If I get any good hits I'll pass them on.

I tried Google for you, Blushing. No luck :(

The Sexually Dominant Woman: A Workbook For Nervous Beginners by Lady Green. 83 pages; a quick and non-threatening read; you can often find it on Amazon for $10-15.

My First Non-Vanilla Sex Book

"Screw the roses, Give me the thorns" by Miller & Devon

I started reading it & it is an awesome lighthearted starter book.
the people writing it put you at ease from the first page... Hell, even the title had me giggling... There is alot of info in it & I jumped all over in it to different topics & area's & found it VERY easy on the brain...

I think if you've been tying her you can go over basic safety info and such together. What are you into?

bondage you can struggle in, rope, cuffs and leather, mummification, bondage that looks pretty, bondage that hurts?

If you love aesthetic, beautiful rope, then I recommend Midori's book, even for the total novice. The illustrations are very clear and the text is in depth. If you are more into cuffs/devices/etc. I find a lot of my ideas from pictures, always keeping basic safety in mind.

I think if she doesn't know, a lot of having a good experience is in being patient with her, talking, and letting her experiment without being in scene necessarily.

I had experience with light bondage only when I got together with my husband who only eroticizes very functional and tight bondage-- he needs to know he can't get out. Being patient and letting me dick around without expectations was the only way for me to learn to tie the way I do now -- much more quickly and effectively.

The book is so damn funny, it should be read even by vanilla types. Check the glossary--My current fav: "Tops disease" [not that I know anyone that would apply to  ]

I agree, Midori is great. Your last paragraph is so "right on" and so seldom practiced. I think the best thing is to experiment with all types of bondage, suspensions, etc when sex/scene is off the table. This way problems can be worked out. A position that may seem great can be hell on the circulation.
And, when you actually play you both know how it is going to work-no wasted time, false starts, etc.

I don't know of any good bondage books. However for starters, why don't you tell her to use her stockings on you as a start. They are soft and silky feeling and don't cost to much. They are usally very dependable and will keep you or her in any position you want to be in. In my opinion you should get the ball rolling first. Just tie her hands and feet to the bed posts first. If you don't have bedposts don't worry. Have her or yourself just bend over touching your hands to your feet. Then bind the feet to the wrists. Trust me in can be very effective. Even if the person can't stay in that position too long, you can at least roll them over on their side and have your way with them. From my experience it doesn't take a book to teach you how to put some one in bondage. Just close your eyes for a moment and think how you would like to be bound or how you would like to have her bound. Than just do it! :) That is my two cents, for whatever it is worth!

my choice

Learning the Ropes by Race Bannon. Small but powerful read. The use of the mind and voice as part of the whole experience is something always to remember. Enjoy!
