I got the Jeep out of the shop yesterday.. due to my little game of tag with Bambi... I get home and decide I should give "Thelma" a nice bath and clean the inside.. It is only then that I notice that my tripod and about 60 CDs are missing..just gone to the wind. We called the insurance agent today and told him what was going on.... He called the shop, but of course, they had never seen them. So then the Life Sucking Bastard (aka insurance agent) calles us back and lets us know that the people at the shop did not see them and that (you had to see this coming) even though we have full coverage, we are not covered for this kind of situation. BIG FUCKEN SUPRISE!!!!!!!! UGGGGG. It just amazes me that when you have full coverage.. you don't. I know that some of it is my fault..should have got the stuff out of the Jeep. I just was not thinking about that kind of thing as I stood on the side of the road waiting for my husband to pick me up.. as the Nice Deputy wrote out her report. Oh well .. live and learn I guess. I guess there is one happy note.. the ASSHOLE that took my stuff left me one CD in the player. Out of all of the CDs I use to own the only I have now is by the Who... so I guess it could be worse.

Call the manager of the station up and explain to him that you had 60 CDs and whatnot in your vehicle when it was in for repair. Well, you can understand how conscientious it was for them to take them out to make sure they weren't harmed by the repairs, but they forgot to return them.

Otherwise you will be notifying the police and the better business bureau because 60 CDs at 15.95 a piece equals about 960 dollars and that's a felony offense. You'll be by to pick them up in 24 hours, thank you very much.

Theft from autos

is, oddly enough, often covered under homeowner's insurance. Flipped me out to learn that some years back, but if you have other coverage it bears looking in to. Auto insurance generally covers only the vehicle itself, whereas homeowners and renters tends to cover your other personal possessions.

I think KM's suggestion is excellent. They're reputation should hopefully be worth more to them then doing what it takes to either return the CD's or pay you the $960 dollars it would take to replace them.

Another option - and this works quite well in small towns, I don't know if you are in a large city or small rural community - but, along with writing the better business bureau you might also mention to them that you will be writing a letter to the editor of your local paper explaining what happened. Once again, the business they could potentially lose from people who read your letter should be worth more to them then what it would take to make amends...

Thanks for the great ideas people. I will check with my home owners insurance and I will give the owner of the shop a little call. He is in a small town, and I am sure does not want any undo attention. The manager maybe without fault, but someone that works for him is. To top it all off, we have to take "Thelma" back... when we got her home we noticed a few spots that need touched up.. and one of the head lights needs to be fixed. If its not one thing its another.

I am sorry you got ripped off. But I am glad to see someone stand up and take some of the blame themselves.

I am so tired of no one accepting responsibility for their own actions.

Kudos to you.
