How many of my fellow authors have realized that you really needed a break when you didn't think that you did?

I told myself that I wasn't going to write the week before Christmas through at least New Year's Day.
I put a lot of miles on the road with my wife and daughters traveling to see family and friends in 3 states this time of year.
It was over this past weekend that I realized that I was accidentally putting pressure on myself to finish stories and get them out.
I can feel the ideas come flowing back into my head now without all the muddle of having to write it all out.

I hope that everyone already does or maybe even this thread will make someone realize that they should take a break.

I've been writing here now for over a year.

My first few weeks and months, I was literally cranking out stories on an almost weekly basis.

No way I could keep up that pace, of course.

The ideas started drying up; stories would be started then abandoned when the words wouldn't come.

So yeah, I walked away for awhile.

Eventually though, the stories called me back.

I'm writing again; much slower. And I've learned to live with that.
