Re-development in downtown Johannesburg: to hell with the poor blacks there now

Its funny how the usual wealthy white liberals and rich corrupt blacks and Coloureds want to drive out the poor people so they can "re-develop" the old Hillbrow neighborhood. What exactly will happen to the people living there now? I guess they can go live in some dusty shanty town fifty miles outside of town so the wealthy white liberals and rich blacks and mixed race people can have expensive new bistros, boutiques, and nightclubs and overpriced condos to live in? Sounds a lot like the liberal hypocrisy in US cities.

Why not try to provide some basic sanitation and services rather than moving them out for more Bohemian cafes, nightclubs and overpriced aparatments? I guess it was wrong when the apartheid government moved blacks out of the city, but its ok now to kick poor blacks out so rich liberal whites and rich blacks can move in?

First of all.. what you're describing is commonly known as gentrification

this is not liberal hypocrisy.. it's good old fashioned unchecked capitalism in action... there is money in bistros, nightclubs, shopping malls, and high priced residential districts

or do you think rich conservatives dont like livi8ng in houses or going to restraunts or boutiques or nightclubs or restraunts

That's rather the point. I have a whole philosophy and ideology that I've been trying to get across on here for the past four years. Yes, liberalism is the greatest scourge that ever marred Western Civization. The downfall started with the mis-named "Enlightenment" or even earlier. I have respect for some leftist ideologies (or parts of them), but I have zero respect for liberalism, either classical bourgois liberalism or modern.

I think its a leftist idea, not a liberal one. In my city, its both the "moderate" Republicans and the rich liberal Democrats who push gentrification. They both profit from it. Its the traditionalists (the true social conservatives) and the real leftists who oppose it, generally speaking (along with some libertarian types, who don't like emminent domain taking people's property).

I may post some things on here that some people find outrageous but I'm not some monolithic asshole. Sorry if you never realized it before, but life's not that black and white all the time. I have always been troubled by gentrification.

Some leftists actually want to do some good in the world, though their idealism is often misplaced. I equate left liberalism with the corrupt establishment that has overseen or orchestrated the demise of western society since the 1960s. I equate right liberalism with the rich socially "moderate" capitalist types. I consider them two sides of the same coin.
