This stems from another thread but I would not post it there as it is a completely different subject. No offense meant to anyone.

Adoption of a child does not mean that a child has a stigma placed on them. In my humble opinion, that so called stigma can be erased by communication to the adopted child by the parents, understanding and love.

I also do not believe that a child is just as likley to be abused by adopted parents as the child is by biological parents who do not want the child. I have no scientific data to back this up and I will not look for any. My "logic" on this is as such:
Adopting a child is a very difficult, time consuming, expensive and emotionally draining process. It does not strike me as likely that a parent willing to go through such an extensive process would be of the same mind set and have the same emotional issues as a parent who has a child they do not want or cannot care for.

So with this trail of thought, I think that a biological parent would be more likley to abuse a child than a parent who has adopted a child.

Disclaimer: I know that adopted children are also abused.

End rant.
