Why does that man insist on wearing spandex when he runs. Only women should be wearing spandex.

Why oh why did Gandalf give Frodo, of all mother luvin' hobbits, the ring? http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/images/smilies/facepalm.gif They would've been to Mordor and back in no time had he just given it to Sam in the first place.

It's to do with the English class system. Frodo was a gentleman therefore a suitable hero, whereas Sam was a servant. Technically Gandalf didn't give the ring, although he certainly could have influenced it's ownership. :)

Wow. Thanks for clearing that up. I had a feeling it was bias. And Gandalf seemed to bestow Frododobird with the ring because he was close to Bilbo, I thought. But I love how Sam became the unsuspecting hero. Every idiot needs a friend like Sam to save them from the fiery pits. And Gollum. And...everything else that almost killed Frodo. :)

Did you read the book? I...barely got through the first poem

Many times - although I always skip the poems :)

Bilbo would never have given the ring to Sam. Frodo was his nephew and heir and taking the ring with force from Bilbo would’ve hurt him. It would've pissed Frodo off too and I'm not sure if Sam would've agreed to leave without Frodo either. I think Gandalf did the right thing, even though Sam might've been the better choice.

ETA: The poems sucks, except the one about the rings. "One ring to rule them all."

True. The ring was like the Baggins heirloom, even though Bilbo's old ass sat on it for centuries back and forth. I felt Gandalf entrusted Frodo with it which is understandable, but I'm sure no one, even Sam, would've even guessed he would survive something like that. It's a classic tale of friendship. And servitude. :D

I don't have the patience today to listen to nor deal with a fussy 18 month old in need of a spanking and a nap. I am a bad Gramma.

I have the book and I folded away all the pages with poems lol Almost as many pages as the book  I mean, I love poetry but the imagery of them singing about Orcs or something is just...blegh.

As long as you feed it. I minor in Criminal Justice and I've come across some...creepy...crazy...sadistic sociopaths.

More of a question than a thought:

Why is it if you ask a woman on the street if you can take her picture or have her model for you she instantly declines, yet these same women have no problem posting nude selfies of themselves all over the Net?

It should be obvious, but nothing breaks writer's block when working on a Lit story, than a good dose of old fashioned sexual arousal.
