R.I.P. Amy Winehouse (9/14/83 — 7/23/11)

Just happened. Found dead in her apartment, reason for death unknown at this time.

I knew girl had problems and was a wreck, but didn't think this would happen this soon. Damn.

YOU knew she had problems?

Comparing Winehouse to Gaga is unfair.

Gaga started out with a yearning to be the biggest, wealthiest and most famous. Her life is planned and the goals set.

Thats not what she says....and who compared Winehouse to Gaga?

Sad stuff but not like - shockingly sad stuff. If Charlie Sheen overdosed tonight and died, that version of sadness.

For some reason I half expected a post from Lady Funkenstein. I recall a thread about Amy Whinehouse years ago and Funk was so hopeful that Amy could turn it around and get better due to her immense talent.

:rose: for Amy

Huge talent, huge mess, no surprise, and in the end not the loss it should have been.

I was a fan.

The polls at TMZ concerning her death and demise are sickening in a way.

Where and how do they get off with junk like that?

P.S. Queen Levitra, note the intro to that link I provided, and the datestamp...

I don't read TMZ unless there's a threesome involved.

Must have been tough for you finding her like that. Did you post this before you called the cops?

Amy repeatedly expressed that she didn't ask or want or care about fame, rather she was just a musician.

True, and like others in Club 27, she paid the price.

It is always interesting when someone well known dies around here (Lit.), how people Wiki the name and find some nasty aspect of the deceased's life and post here how happy they are that the person died. One wonders how these same people act at the Thanksgiving Day table or at Grandma's funeral.

.... no, I correct myself: we know how they act: normally, because they only have courage to express their sociopathy here.

Not a surprise, but still sad....:rose:

Amy I hope you find peace on the other side.

Be kind about GaGa and her gift.

God's gifts are just that. They both received them, it's how they go about utilizing them. Pondered putting that link in my sigline but opted to just add it here since the topic is out there.

Can't believe you found this...makes me cry every time. Good to see, in this day and age, a big voice winning out over a pretty face. Gaga can actually sing.

WHY didnt you do something about it if you KNEW!! Good friend you are!!!

The whole thing is sad. It's strange to say this because Back to Black is full of depressing songs, but it helped cheer me up in the period right after my mother died. Too bad that's going to be pretty much her only legacy now.

Her lyrics always seem to touch and soothe the big hurts.

Beco, know how I found that link? Straight from GaGa's Twitter.

Last night I stumbled across an online news article featuring comments from celebrities about Amy Winehouse's death. Nicki Minaj thought it was a joke at first, Rihanna was seriously heartbroken over and over in multiple tweets, etc..

Nothing from GaGa so I checked her Twitter and one of her last tweets was promoting that performance of hers on Howard Stern (they usually zap such HS goodies from YouTube, don't they?)

Just checked, GaGa made a statement:

ladygaga Lady Gaga
Amy changed pop music forever, I remember knowing there was hope, and feeling not alone because of her. She lived jazz, she lived the blues.

Oh, and I'm sorry you cry when you hear it! Even with her explanation about the song being about her Grandfather I can't help thinking about Amy there.
