Quicktime player help

Hi folks im hoping someone here can help me, i took a video for my husband who is overseas with my Kodak camera when downloaded to the cpu it goes to a quicktime movie format, i cant email this file to him as its to big and i can't send it on messenger because its also still to big any tips hints or ideas how i can fix this to be able to send it to him? it was supposed to of been for our anniversary but lol just not able to send thanks in advanced

Have you tried zipping the file in the folder which will compress the file size?

You would need a program like WinZip, which you can download a trial verision of for free.

He would need to have the capability of opening zipped files on his end though.

Or if you have WinRar you can compress it into a .rar file, but again, he would need to have the capability of opening .rar files.

If you know how to change the fps, you can lower the fps which should make the file smaller, but usually you would need a video editing program to do that in. You can't do that in quicktime viewer, as far as I can remember.

kodak and quicktime issues

Seems that if you upgrade the quicktime viewer package that comes in the Kodak software to Apple's Quicktime Pro... there may be a way, but with some fuss. Link above discusses this issue in detail. Also in that link a freeware video editor is also mentioned, but it seems not to be the best solution because of the way Kodak handles the audio in its implementation of quicktime.

OK, so you convert the quicktime to an AVI...at that point, you will need to convert the AVI to something small..like a Windows Media Player (.wmv) file. That will need to be done with a video editor like Blaze Media Pro.

Like Sarojaede said, you can try to compress it, although video generally doesn't compress that well, as it already is. Winzip, Zipgenius, and other compression programs, though, have the ability to split files into multiple archives. This may be what you have to do. On the options screen for creating the archive, there is usually an option for split, span, or something similar. Set the file size to about 1.5-2 MB, and you should be able to email or MSN him all the parts, and when he gets it, he can unzip and recombine it, then watch your video.
With email, you could even use this to tease him, as you can tell him you've made a naughty video, but he'll have to wait until he gets all the parts. Then, proceed to send him one part every hour or two, and give him a little hint as to what's in it with each piece. I know this would drive me nuts.

The other option is to sign up for some free webspace, on Geocities, *************, or whatever, and post the file there. Send him a link to it, and, I'm assuming, delete it as soon as he's got it, so others don't get a chance to see. Unless, of course, this gets you both going, in which case you can tell him you've posted it on the Internet where just about anybody could find it.

How did you do with this, in the end? This is something that is growing in demand, so there has to be a way.

Back in the day, you would split it up into smaller pieces and then send them over via email, and the recipient would put them together with the same software.

The other option would be to burn a CD and use US mail ... When is your anniversary?

Thank you all for your suggestions i will try them here in a little bit hopefully they work he has been waiting not so paitently since the 14th which was our anniversary ive been using the not being able to send it to him to drive him insane lol by the time it hits him normal US mail it'd be when he was on a flight due home from his tour overseas so that didn't make much sense to me to do it that way.

The file is 93.2MB its pretty big lol,

This Might Help.....

I found a program that is excellent, free, and may just do what you need it to do. It's called 3GP Converter, and basically it converts video to MP4 or iPod format. I've compressed several 50-75mb music videos down to 10-12mb using this program. It's easy to use (just drag the file to be converted onto it and your done). I'll put a link to it below.
