Okay, so like the perpetual slacker that I am, I never finished my Halloween story idea in time for the actual Halloween contest. It's now fairly close to being finished and I'm wondering what, at this point, to do with it.

I could always just sit on it until next year, but I'm not sure I want to do that. For one thing, it's not like it's going to win the contest--I like it quite a bit, actually, but that's because it's almost a humor/satire piece, and humor is not likely to win the Halloween contest or any other contest on an erotica site. That, and it's not great or anything, just amusing. Besides, I really don't give two shits about winning contests; my only reason for submitting it to next year's contest would be because it seems to make sense to stick a Halloween story with other Halloween stories.

However, part of me--that would be the impatient part--just wants to submit it as soon as it's done. Would that be weird? Does anyone have any interest in reading a story about Halloween when it's December?

Argh. Damn you, grad school, for getting in the way of my important porn story deadlines!

So anyway, what's the concensus on this--should I hold off or submit now anyway? Not that this is an important issue for anyone except me, so thanks for taking the time to express an opinion :).

Graymouse,

Go ahead and submit the sucker. You've got my curious roused.

I agree with RF.

I love the drier side of erotica... submit it and then post the link for the rest of us!

I posted my Halloween story during November. So it someone laughs at your timing, they will be laughing at both of us. ;) If you got the itch, scratch it! :)

:D There, you've won, now.........where's the story?:D

Graymouse. Its always good to be finishing up a story, and I tend to agree with everyone else; you should submit it.
My only word of advice wold be to wait a month. Once you are "finished" with the story, set it aside, and work on some other things for about a month. Let it stir inside of you, don't think about it (consciously... unconsciously you'll be working on it, trust me).
Then, after a month, go back to it, do one last editing and revision job. Taking out the bad, keeping in the good, you know, all that good stuff.
Once thats done, submit it. I'd love to see how it turns out.

LOL - yeah, real life has a tendency to interfere with porn world events!

Send the story in! You can always submit it as Humour or as Non-human, depending on the characters.:)

Hey, thanks everyone. I believe I will do as the concensus seems to be and finish it up, let it stew for a bit, give it one last edit, and send it in. Really, it's probably about time; I've been poking around on the Author's Hangout for years and have yet to submit a story (to this site, anyway.) Okay, so that's it, then. When it eventually gets posted, I'll dig up this thread and post a link. The story, for anyone that cares, is tentatively titled "The Nightlife Sucks" and is about a very inept vampire. I don't know if it's any good or not; I just got this idea to turn the whole powerful, seductive vampire thing on its ear. We'll see. Thanks again to all of you for the advice.

Terrific title - it sounds wonderful! Can't wait to give it a read!
