I am in the final stages of completing a few erotic stories and am looking at the various ways my story can reach others. If I go ahead and get the help of one of the volunteer editors, I'd be looking to post on other websites besides Literotica as well as possibly self publishing - the editor would of course be acknowledged.
Editors, how do you feel about this?
To any writers, how has your experience been working with editors via a site?

I have an editor and he knows my stories are posted to other Web sites. Volunteer editors here aren't on the staff of Literotica. The ethical issue is that if an editor came through Literotica, the story should be posted to Literotica, not posted, marketed, entirely somewhere else.

I'm a professional editor myself and I do some editing here, but I'd never sanction being acknowledged as the editor here (or anywhere else the author is doing the submitting). The author has to submit the story and therefore has it last. As the editor, I then had no control over what was actually published here. If my name were attached to it as the editor, I'd be tagged for presentation that I possibly wasn't responsible for.

In a professional editing situation, I, as the editor, have the manuscript after the author has had it last and only the publisher's typesetter comes after me. I've been known to ask that I not be acknowledged as editor in books where the author insisted on quirks that I didn't want to be held responsible for and the publisher let stand as the author wanted them.
