I am thinking of making a text/html based game{s(possible more} in an ebook format.

Do you think it would be something that would go over very well?
If it was in your field of interest would you play something like that?
or in this age of 3d this and that games would text/html games be best left in the 80's?

Like a choose your own adventure? Or like single player text adventure with a room description and compass directions?

Or Mud/Mush

:D

Wasnt that the winning idea in the movie "Big"?
The interactive comic book?

I loved to read those choose your own adventures when I was in grade school. Good quality stuff right there. :)

yes quite so like the choose your own adventure books but like what you described for the text adventure with room descriptions and compas directions.

possible a few genereic pictures but nothing anitmated unless its a gif or something.

I would use ********** to prevent right click cheating and hide mouseover answers on the links

Make sure you use the phrase, "You're in a maze of twisty little passages all the same."

So ya, it's like a MUD/CYOA. Only MUD's don't have pic's and I wouldn't recommend it either.

I thought MUD's and MUSH's were player created levels for doom and duke nukem.

Nope. They are whole complete games.

I have played them. And lost interest. In order for it to be slightly successful, you must be a great writer, great game designer, or pretty good mixture of both. And most text games I've played were made by neither of the three.

A 'pick your own adventure' type game sounds cool.

Maybe one where the game plays the part of private dick and is trying to track down a killer.. or something.

cool, thank you very much

I doubt that mine would be anywhere near complicated as that , I was thinking more ebook format with simple html, multiple choices, multiple outcomes.

You know to be honest with you, I think that that game has been online and running for near 10 years. When the net first became accessible. I've played it many times, and it is fun. Plus you get to learn to read alot faster. So much text scrolling down the screen. Fun as hell tho.

the current ideas are for

A Private investigator investigation {medium to large sized}

A short 3-7 match wrestling career simulation {small to medium depending on how detailed}

A work day simulation {probably the shortest}

A short life simulation {actually this one could be quite large}

A political Career simulation {Medium to large sized}

A not so sure of idea {religious/moral simulation}

Any other ideas?

So these would be like the interactive stories at Lit (except non-erotic)?
