Question for Laurel - Is Lit A Sex Chat Room or Romper Room?

I have been going between the BB and Lit Chat for quite some time now. I started in Lit and migrated to BB - which I really like - there have been some great threads written. I also still enjoy the chat room and have made some really good friends there. I use the same name in both BB and Lit Chat so some of you know me. I was dismayed to hear from some of the Regs in Lit Chat recently about how the place is falling apart and how much it bothers them that a place that used to be so much fun has gone downhill. I heard things like you cannot give a long lingering kiss to anyone in the lounge. A kiss hello is o.k. but no passionate kisses. I have heard you can't sit on someone's lap and wiggle. I have heard that you can't have a mock strip tease anymore - the punishment for these things is that you will be booted. Seems to me for a site that calls itself an Adult Sex Chat site it has become a Romper Room. Do I want to read about people having sex in the lounge - no. However, I do want to be able to joke around, to make my friends laugh, to have fun. If this offends anyone than maybe they shouldn't be in Lit - after all it is an Adult Sex Chat Room not Romper room. There are other chat rooms they can go to if the sex offends them.

So Laurel, I ask you - Is Lit an Adult Sex Chat Room and are we to treat is as such or is it Romper Room and we are to behave as children.

I have to agree with you Busty. Lit used to be a fun place
for us to go and chat and have a good time. We can't kiss
passionately in the lounge anymore or have a little wiggle.
It seems it is ok for someone to talk about rape and equally
disgusting things but a kiss is not ok. I wonder what's up with that. One more thing, this is the name I use in chat.

i think that in general, no one really minds the occasional deep kiss, since kisses in the lounge are like gum stuck to the underside of a diner table...meaningless in the main scheme of things....and i agree it is a sex chat room...but the real problem is censorship...i think if people are offended...they should leave...thats what i do...i like to keep my sex personal, and quite frankly wonder about the public displays of affection that go on...i don't have to approve though...like a bad movie, or tv show, turn it off...and let the children play...god knows there is enough stupid crap going on in there that i would sometimes welcome somebody fucking someone in front of me!!!!

On the rare occasion that I actually go to chat, I never stay in the lounge very long. For one, the scroll is really killer on the ep. For another thing it has too many people in it.

There are plenty of channels available to do sex stuff at literotica chat. Some people, and I can think of a few right off the bat, may like a place where they can chat without worrying about being nothing more than a sexual object. It may be a porn site, but that doesn't mean everything has to be about sex.

Perhaps a moderator will weigh in shortly with the reason why these things are banned. There is probably a very good reason for it.

Oh joy, here we go again... As far as I know, strip teases have not been banned, I merely suggested one afternoon when I had 73 people in the lounge that perhaps they would like to take their show to a different room, hence the Wild Thing Strippers Club. No one was booted. I don't know who keeps starting these rumours of people being banned, and why the same stuff keeps being drudged up all the time, but as for the thirty line kissing, it seems to be disruptive to chat when you see two people doing nothing more than KISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS and GROPEEEEEEEEEEEEE and sucking on your tongue...lifting your shirt and kisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss for 30 lines...the chatters who like to chat and have fun have a difficult time wading thru all that stuff. Kissing is fine and so is hugging, what a wonderful way to greet friends.
As far as talk of rape is concerned, I will boot at the mere sight of the word rape in someones name. Any talk of rape when I am there is quickly diffused, if the chatter doesn't like my advice, then perhaps a boot is necessary, I simply do not think of rape as a fantasy or a game.
Shylady, you want to rehash double standards again??? When I had banned cat, I should have banned you also as you were right in there causing problems. But were you banned? No.were you booted? No. Where did the double standard lie there?
I don't know what everyone thinks we do or don't do, perhaps each of you should come up with a list of guidelines you as chatters would like to see the CMs do. Personally, I spend many unpaid hours in chat, listening to bullshit, getting called nasty names (my newest name yesterday was "you fuck face whorish slut"...nice huh?), and then being hung out to dry on the BB. Well, this CM is getting pretty darned tired of all of this. Perhaps chat should go back to when there were no CMs, let everyone just do and say as they please. Wonder if it will be such a nice place to go to then?!?!?!?!?

The lounge is for conversation and getting to know people. When people conduct long so-called romantic displays in the room, it interferes with the conversation. Ditto the strip teases. Ditto the wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle ad infinitum giggling nonsense that passes for flirting among some of the children who come to Lit. There are an infinite number of other rooms right down the hall where people can strip, fuck, or do whatever else they please in front of other people. In the lounge, when it passes the point of annoyance, we do not have to be subjected to it. It is extremely tedious except to the person or persons involved, whose primary motivation is public display. Public display is fine down the hall, not in the lounge.

Ksss this thread was addressed to Laurel not to you. As a matter of fact it really has nothing to do with you. I am merely stating my opinion based on what I have seen and heard and what others have seen and heard as well.
Once again I will repeat what I have said on many ocassions. Cm's are needed - we need to keep minors out of Lit as well as those who simply refuse to take no as an answer. That is where your job should end - yes you should have fun when you go into lit - you are after all human too but if you see the job as a burden then you shouldn't be there. We are all adults and as such should be able to speak up if something bothers us whether it is on the BB or in the chat room. However, we should be able to respect each other's opinion and not respond in anger if we do not agree. I tried very hard not to accuse anyone of anthing but to merely point out that censorship is taking place and does it belong in a sex chat room. Whatever your differences are with some of us this was not the forum to air them. I posed a question to Laurel and was hoping to get an answer from her.

One other thing. What is being loosely called "censorship" here most certainly does belong in an adult chat room. Some things are just flat unacceptable, such as children in the room. Other things are acceptable in the right time and place, but not all the time and not everywhere. The reason there are multiple rooms at Lit is to let everyone do whatever they please without bothering other people. To expect people to behave appropriately to the room they are in is not censorship, it is common sense so that the place can function. The lounge is for everyone, it is very busy, and therefore it has behavior standards. People can do whatever they want to--just take it private or take it down the hall.

As I have stated earlier - minors do not have a place in an Adult Chat Room. However, there is nothing wrong with having some good clean fun in the lounge - it is after all a place we go to to see people we know and to have fun. Not everything has to be taken down the hall to another room - I personally would be offended if someone had sex in the lounge but I can always leave if I don't like it. If however, we are having a party for someone and there is a strip tease (done tastefully) I have no objections to that -after all we are just fooling around and making each other laugh. Most of us go to the lounge for just that reason - to have fun and enjoy the company of others that we like.

i don't know why I got brought into this I simply asked busty if she expected to hear from laurel on this cause I have written her before and never even recieved any type of answer.

As far as cat is concerned I have no idea why she was banned, I didn't ask for it, I didn't ask for her to be reinstated , I simply want her to leave me alone. For the most part she has.
As for the double standards I speak of.. I mean how rude 3 men in particualar are to anyone they want. Two of them are cms the other has the power to boot. I personally like cms in the room and I think YOU do a great job.
On sunday morning loco had a very offensive exit line when he left the room. It probably offended none but me so I said nothing but wrote him a email and simply stated what i thought of it and I have been ignored ever since.

So be it.. I come to lit for fun and entertainment. When it turns to something else I hit the log out button. No big deal. I have been chatting a few other places and talk to my friends on msn and icq, but there is no place like lit chat and I will be back. Probably today even.
YOu have known I think alot of the rules are silly but I try to abide by them and ignore the people i don't care for.. I use the redline when I have to, and I log out when it isn't fun and come back later when it is.

I really don't want to see the cm bashing again. Some of the
rules are good and some are kinda silly. We abide with
what we agree and just shake our heads at the rest. If something is said or done that I don't like I either use
the logout button or redline. GOD knows we all love the
redline button and we know how and when to use it. I go to lit to chat with my friends and to have fun. Lit is a way
for me to get away from real life. It's just my opinion and it might not mean much but I would hate for lit to get in
a uproar again, with everyone taking sides. Busty has
