Question for Authors

Just quoting this again to ask if the story was a "true" rape story (where the victim did not enjoy it in the least)

If it was then by the rule of the site it should not have posted and believe it or not there are people there who are looking mostly for forced sex fantasies where the woman does end up enjoying it. They will call out real rape stories.

On the other hand the other poster was right, the section is called non consent what would you expect.

So you fell into lits "Rape? We don't allow it! But hey, check out the non consent section!"

Not the fault of you putting it there, just an example of the hypocrisy of having a rule then having a category that contradicts it.

The most I got away with was her hating it and being in pain during the encounter, but orgasming due to what the guys did to her, so leaving her final feelings ambiguous but with her body enjoying it.

And no, my NC isn't femdom (go figure, woman writing NC stories with woman victims). Ironically, my closest thing to femdom is my highest rated story and it is in erotic couplings.

Hmm, still sounds like it is pure non con, but forced orgasms can throw off the censors fairly easy and throws doubt on it.

I think I had you confused with another author who mentioned she gets "beat on" because she does femdom stories and I think some involve Trannys.

It's okay, and I've read far more rapey stories than my single venture into that dark path on literotica--highly established authors seem to get it easier. And no, the story was modified heavily, censors rejected the first attempt.

Good to hear they at least scope out the newbies.

And you're right I doubt the well established old timers ever get so much as a glance.

But if they've never caused trouble before I doubt they would start now, which I assume is Laurel's theory.

Hey guys. Love the thread. Gives a bit of an insight into your minds. As a longtime reader (circa 2008), I've loved watching stories build and progress and morph into pretty good yarns, regardless of the category. I do, however, agree with the general idea that enough is enough, eventually. There comes a time when you need to put down the pen, or step away from the keyboard whether you're burned out or not. Unless you end your tale with some cataclysmic, apocalyptic event that wipes the planet of life, there's always going to be a 'what if' or a 'you should' or a 'what about.' Let sleeping dogs lie.

As a umm, hobby-writer (I hate that term, but there's no substitute), I've written several non-erotic pieces in my time, even venturing up to the novel-length range. It's trying work at best. But this is my first time as an author on Lit, and I just had a couple quick questions. Wasn't sure where to put them, and this seemed as good a place as any.

Posting turn-around times: what's the average time delay between submission and posting?
Posting advice: Have you found it better to post a series all at once? Or with some time in between? I saw a post pertaining to this a while back, but I was wondering if there was any consensus.
Comments & Replies: Pay them no mind? Take them to heart? Somewhere in between?

Yes there is, writer.

Now if you were trying to sell stories (but not serious about it) then you would be a Hobby-Author.

Turn around times varies depending on the volume and if there is a contest going hot and heavy. Between three day to a week is average.

I would post let it come up then post the next that gives your readers time to get through the first one and pop there is the second. Like the old TV series they will get to waiting which is a good thing. Remember the cliff hangers they used back then too. There was a reason for them it kept the watcher on the edge of his seat till the next show.

Ah comments our bread and butter. Enjoy the good ones you get, learn from the bad ones that give you criticisms and delete everything you feel is just asshattery.

Then ignore them all and go write the next part just how you want.

--Unless you're posting as one giant story (all the chapters within one submission) they generally ask you to wait a day or two between submission.

--Depends solely on the comment, you'll get people who love it because it's a sex story (assuming those are what you post), you'll get people who hate it because it's not their cup of tea (see incest, non-consent/reluctance, non-human, Loving Wives, and Interractial as good examples), and occassionally you'll actually get comments that are useful and insightful.

The best response I've had on a multi-chapter story was the most recent one, which I posted twice weekly. It topped weekly postings and daily postings by a noticeable margin.

Average wait time varies. Lately, it's been 5-6 days. That will probably level off back to 3-4 or 4-5 with the contest submission period over.

You have to mine the comments for value. Some are just gushing praise. Some are just mouth-foaming rants. It's the ones in the middle and the rare constructive criticism that you'll get the most mileage from ( beyond the enthusiasm boost praise can give you )

Definitely not trying to sell books. Not my thing at all. I have no literary backgound whatsoever. I just like to write, and when a topic plants little tendrils in my mind, I can't rest 'til I've gotten some of it down on paper.

As for posting, that's what I was leaning towards. The story would have been far too long for one chapter, so I broke it down. Pushed Ch's 1 & 2 onto the site, waiting for them to show up. I planned on giving it a week before I submit another... allowing a week for posting time, the math comes out pretty well. Was just getting a little worried because it's been a week and a day, I think.

*chuckle* Is there any particular sub-category that's free of dumbass commenters and rabid readers? I know the answer to that, so I should rephrase: which category has the most lenient readers? I'd like to stay away from that one. Getting people's hackles up is something I enjoy, and extremely negative comments are always good for a hearty laugh, I've discovered.

I'm a mental midget. *chuckle* Got my story back from the editors, the first two chapters. The story was perfectly fine, but a cute little comment I made in the note box made them send it back to me out of courtesy. I'm going to leave that damn box empty from now on.

Good idea, and in future I think I'll try to do that for stories that I intend to have multiple chapters. I'm guess that leaving 4 to six months or a year between chapters (as I have been) would translate into fewer readers following up and reading subsequent chapters.

And I'm sure he kept it himself. While I was in basic we had a guy go awol. The Drill Sgt opened his locker and encouraged everyone to help themselves. Of course he made sure to keep some magazines for himself.
